Listed as questionable for their contest with the Jazz, New Orleans will look to avoid it’s third straight home loss.

Utah

When Gordon Hayward was offered a max contract, many people speculated whether or not he could live up to those kind of expectations.

He’s silenced those critics and has become one of the most dangerous shooters in the NBA. Hayward will look to lead the Jazz to their 2nd straight victory after scoring 30 points in the team’s win over the Kings on Saturday.

Gordon Hayward, who averages 19.6 points a game, has shown he can step up and be the leader to a bright future for Utah. Hayward has scored single digits just 6 times this season. He fell one point shy of his season best, 31 points, on Saturday. Hayward has dropped in 31 two times this season.

While the Jazz realistically have no shot at the playoffs this season, they do have some players to build a team around. Obviously Hayward is the centerpiece of that, but with the likes of Trey Burke, Derrick Favors, Enes Kanter and others, the Jazz have something to look forward to.

Currently, Utah is 10 games out of the 8th seed in the West.

New Orleans

The Pelicans sit just one game back of the 8th seed in the West, but will need a healthy Anthony Davis if they hope to make any moves in the standings.

Davis went down with an awkward fall on an alley oop attempt in the Pelicans blowout loss to the Bulls.

It looked as if the team was in shock following the departure of Davis and could not hold their composure together.

With Davis listed as questionable, the Pelicans may need to turn to Ryan Anderson to fill the void if Davis cannot go. Anderson is averaging 14.9 points a game this season. Anderson struggled on against Chicago shooting just 1 for 11 and getting 4 points.

While Anderson has shown he has the ability to score, the Pelicans would much rather have the production of Anthony Davis in the lineup. Davis is scoring 24.5 points a game and has scored a total of 74 points in both Pelicans victories over the Jazz this season.

Even though they’ve dropped two straight at home, New Orleans is still a tough matchup inside Smoothie King Arena. The Pelicans are 17-8 S.U. at home this season.

NBA Basketball Handicapping Trends:

  • Jazz are 6-2 ATS in their last 8 road games vs. a team with a home winning % of greater than .600.
  • Jazz are 10-4 ATS in their last 14 games playing on 1 days rest
  • Pelicans are 11-2 ATS in their last 13 vs. Western Conference.
  • Pelicans are 8-2 ATS in their last 10 after allowing 100 points or more in their previous game.

Free 4* NBA Pick: New Orleans -5

Assuming Anthony Davis can go, the Pelicans should be able to handle the Jazz at home.

New Orleans 105, Utah 94

This line will move quickly once the news of Davis breaks, so taking it now is risky, but the safe way to go if he does play.
