Los Angeles

Coming off a 26 point performance, Kobe Bryant passed Michael Jordan for 3rd all time in total points with 32,310. While the major focus has been on that, the Lakers have won 3 straight and have snuck to within 3.5 games of the 8th seed in a crowded Western Conference.

While Kobe Bryant continues to come up big in the clutch, with the help from Nick Young, Jordan Hill, and Carlos Boozer, the Lakers offense has stepped up to become the 9th best scoring team in the league (102.6 points a game). Bryant leads the way with 25.4 points a game.

While the offense has become a major threat, the Lakers defense has been a cause of concern all season long. Los Angeles ranks 30th overall in defense (109.5 points a game). Over the span of their 3 game winning streak, the Lakers have allowed under 100 points with an average of 99.7 points against.

On the road this season, Los Angeles is 5-7 S.U. and 7-5 ATS. They’ll have a chance to improve on their 110.6 points allowed on the road when they face a offensively challenged Pacers team on Monday.

Indiana

The injuries have continued to pile up for the Pacers and they’ll again be shorthanded when they enter their Monday contest with the Lakers. Losers of 8 in a row, Indiana is still trying to find somebody to step up and fill the shoes of Paul George, who is still out indefinitely. The unexpected leader of the Pacers offense is guard Rodney Stuckey, who is averaging 12.8 points a game.

With their leading scorer producing just 12.8 points a game, the Pacers scoring offense ranks near the bottom of the NBA with just 93.2 points a game (29th). Their assists per game are just as bad, as they rank 28th overall with 19.5 assists. During their current losing streak the Pacers have scored over 100 points just once, with the aid of an overtime session.

At home this season, Indiana is 4-8 S.U. and 3-8-1 ATS. While spread backers have been struggling with the Pacers, under bettors have been happy with 8 of the 12 home games going under.

The Pacers are just 2-9 overall against the Western Conference this season.

NBA Basketball Trends:

  • Lakers are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games vs. a team with a winning % below .400.
  • Lakers are 6-2 ATS in their last 8 games following a S.U. win.
  • Pacers are 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games playing on 1 days rest.
  • Pacers are 2-7 ATS in their last 9 Monday games.

Monday NBA Basketball

The Pacers have won 4 of the last 5 games against Kobe and the Lakers. This includes both meetings last year. However, the Pacers had Paul George and the Lakers were without Kobe Bryant for both games.

Taking the points here makes the most sense. With the Lakers playing their best basketball of the season, they can surely come out of Indiana with a straight up win.
