Cleveland saw just how important Kevin Love and J.R. Smith are to their lineup as they struggled and labored throughout Game 1, ultimately falling in the end and losing home court advantage.

Now, they’ll look to salvage their time inside Quicken Loans Arena as they look to even the series up. Derrick Rose and company had a solid balance of inside and outside basketball as they never let Cleveland lead in the game and will look to do the same in Game 2.

Chicago Bulls

Chicago knew they had turned things up a notch in their Game 6 win over Milwaukee. They didn’t lose a beat as they came out of the gates firing in Cleveland and dodged a couple Cavs’ runs en route to a Game One win. Now, they look to take complete control of the series as they try and steal both games in Cleveland.

The whole city of Chicago took a collective sigh of relief as Derrick Rose limped off in the 4th quarter of the team’s Game One win. Rose has missed significant time, especially postseason time, with knee injuries. His injury is minor and there is no doubt that he will play in Game Two.

Rose dropped in 25 points, grabbed 5 rebounds, and dished out 5 assists in Game One. Rose also went 3 of 6 from behind the 3 point line.

F Pau Gasol played equally as well scoring 21 points and grabbing 10 rebounds to record his 6th double-double of the 2015 postseason.

Gasol had his jumped game working with the pick and roll game as he made 8 wide open jump shots.

G Jimmy Butler scored 20 points in Game One, but his presence was most felt on the defensive end as he shut down Lebron James late in the game.

Cleveland Cavaliers

The Cavs have the tools to replace Kevin Love and J.R. Smith, but people are going to have to step up.

Iman Shumpert was one of the only players who at least tried to step up in Game One as he went for 22 points, replacing J.R. Smith in the starting lineup. It was the 2nd straight game Shumpert played a vital role for the Cavs, and will have one more chance to do the same as J.R. Smith will be serving the 2nd game of his 2 game suspension.

Mike Miller, who didn’t do too much in the regular season, saw 16 minutes of action in place of Kevin Love, but only recorded 3 points. He’ll likely be a changing factor for Cleveland as his minutes will be the same going forward. Miller has shown at points that he can hit some big 3 point shots and will have to do so.

For the time being though, head coach David Blatt will place Tristan Thompson in the starting lineup. The likely replacement of Thompson in the lineup is because Cleveland struggled to stop the Gasol/Noah tandem in the paint.

Lebron James did score 19 points and grab 15 rebounds, but he struggled shooting from the field and his lack of defensive stops were what cause problems for the Cavs.

NBA Basketball Trends:

  • Bulls are 6-2 ATS in their last 8 vs. NBA Central.
  • Bulls are 7-3 ATS in their last 10 road games vs. a team with a home winning % of greater than .600.
  • Cavaliers are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 home games.
  • Cavaliers are 4-11 ATS in their last 15 vs. NBA Central.

Free 4* NBA Basketball Pick: Chicago +5.5

The Cavaliers aren’t by any means done this series after their Game One loss.

Cleveland 105, Chicago 103

Cleveland grabs a win here, but fails to cover the number.
