NBA:  Spurs vs Wizards Predictions

NBA betting action sees the San Antonio Spurs taking on the Washington Wizards on Tuesday January 13 at the Verizon Center in Landover, Maryland.  Cappers Picks provides free NBA handicapping tips all season long.

This is a pretty good East-West battle. The Wizards are always looking to prove they are among the real contenders and a win here would help.

San Antonio

The Spurs are still the Spurs but they have been losing a lot more this season.

Yes they are still pacing themselves from time to time but you have to wonder how that strategy will bear itself out if they are on the road more often than not in the playoffs.

San Antonio has not been a very good road team this season needing a win over Minnesota in their last game to edge their record over .500.

Kawhi Leonard is still out and it does not look like Manu Ginobili is going to play in this one either.

Against the Spurs you never can know where the production is going to come from.

In the recent win against Minnesota Austin Daye led the team in scoring with 22 points while backup PGs Patty Mills and Corey Joseph chipped in 31 combined points.

The Spurs are showing their depth right now but it will be difficult against the Wizards, a more gifted team than most people realize.

Washington

The Wizards are a good team but they just got whacked at Atlanta in their last game.

The Hawks are the lone team they are looking up at in Southeast Division and this team, with one of the best backcourts in the NBA, can compete with anybody.

This season they are 5th in points allowed and some of their games have been grinders.

The Spurs will challenge them to compete hard on every possession, similar to Atlanta, so this game will be a real test. At home they have been very good this season at 16-4.

For the Wizards it starts in the backcourt. John Wall is averaging a double-double this season but when you watch the games you will also see that he is emerging as a great closer.

Bradley Beal missed some time to start but he has been very solid and is the rare case of someone who is making a higher percentage from behind the arc than from within it.

If Washington is going to win these guys will lead the way and I like the matchups for them.

  • Spurs are 20-5-2 ATS in the last 27 meetings.
  • Under is 9-4 in the last 13 meetings.

4* NBA Prediction:  Washington -2

This is going to be a game where the Spurs will feel the loss of Leonard who is an excellent defensive player.

NBA Score prediction:  Washington 100 – San Antonio 95

The Wizards will get back to their winning ways at home. At this small number this is a great value.
