New York

The struggling Knicks are hoping to avenge last night’s 11 point loss against the Pelicans. This year so far has not been going how the Knicks had hoped it would. They rank near the very bottom in points per game (93.7) and rebounds (39.5).

In order for New York to be competitive in Wednesday night’s matchup, Carmelo Anthony will have to be productive along with Iman Shumpert. Anthony is averaging 23.2 points per game, which is down compared to other seasons in his career.

Coach Derek Fisher has been faced with the challenge of implementing the triangle offense which has proved to be much more difficult than he anticipated.

The bright spot for the Knicks this year has been their defense. They are only allowing 99.0 points per game. If the Knicks want to be successful, Amare Stoudemire will have to dominate the paint and look to open things up for Carmelo.

San Antonio

Coach Greg Popovich will attempt to get his team back on track after one of their worst defensive performances all year. Popovich was ejected in last night’s contest after picking up back to back technical fouls.

The Spurs could possibly be without starting point guard Tony Parker, who is averaging 16.6 points per game to go along with 5.5 assists.

San Antonio has been one of the best home teams in the league this year at 7-1 with their only loss coming to New Orleans by one point.

Veteran power forward Tim Duncan will be matched up with Amare Stoudemire.

In two games last year Duncan shot 4-12 and only had 20 points, but is coming off his best performance of the year last game. Duncan had 23 points, 14 rebounds, four blocks and three steals in the Spurs loss to the Jazz.

For the Spurs to keep up their home court dominance they will need another big performance out of Duncan, especially if Tony Parker is sitting out.

NBA Handicapping Trends:

  • Knicks are 1-5 ATS in their last six games after allowing 100+ points.
  • Spurs are 8-3 ATS in their last 11 games against a team with a winning % below .400.
  • Knicks are 3-8 ATS in their last 11 games following an ATS loss.
  • Spurs are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games vs NBA Atlantic.

NBA Gambling Prediction

With the Spurs coming off a frustrating loss in Utah, I expect them to bounce back and take it out on the struggling Knicks. Carmelo Anthony isn’t at 100% and without him being able to score the Knicks won’t stand a chance. Even with Tony Parker possibly being out, the Spurs won’t have any problems putting up points.

Duncan, Leonard, and Ginobli will exploit the Knicks defense and lock them down on the other end.

Free 4* NBA Betting Pick: SA -4.5

The Spurs will not have any problems covering 4.5 points at home, I would even say anything under ten points is easily winnable. Take the Spurs to cover at home, coming off a loss and against a depleted Knicks roster.
