Dallas will look to get everyone involved and push the ball while Indiana will try to slow it down and get Roy Hibbert the ball in the post.

Dallas Mavericks

Everything has been going pretty well thus far for the Mavs this year. Although they are coming off a 3-point loss to the Rockets, the Mavs have been getting it done. With newly acquired free agents and long-time Mav Dirk Nowitzki scoring almost 110 points per game they have been impressive to say the least.

Shooting guard Monta Ellis is averaging a team leading 19.5 points per game and a team leading 4.6 assists per game.

The very balanced and deep roster of the Mavs will make them a force to be dealt with in the highly competitive Western Conference this year. Dallas has not had a problem scoring the basketball this year to say the very least. Center, Tyson Chandler has been their anchor averaging 10.6 rebounds per game along with 10.4 points per game. Chandler Parsons, acquired this off-season, has been consistent averaging 14.1 points per game.

Veteran leadership and consistency makes the Mavs tough to beat, especially at home. Dallas is currently 6-1 at the American Airlines Center this year and have always been known to defend their home court.

Before Saturday’s loss to the Houston Rockets, Dallas had won six in a row and seven of their last eight. They scored a season-low 92 points in the loss which was the first time this year that they scored under 100 points in a game.

Indiana Pacers

Even before the season started for the Pacers they were faced with a big challenge, to win games without their best player. The loss of superstar shooting guard Paul George has been extremely apparent. George went down with a leg-injury while playing for team USA in a scrimmage and possibly will not be able to return this year.

Also, the loss of Lance Stephenson to free agency and his ability to create his own shot has made it even more difficult for the Pacers.

However, they have to overcome this situation and do what they do best. Rebound. After starting off the year with some difficult losses, Indiana has begun to learn how to win without two important pieces in their lineup. They are second in the league in rebounding, pulling down 46.7 boards per contest.

Led by seven-foot center Roy Hibbert and small forward Chris Copeland, both averaging 13.1 points per game, the Pacers have started to re-discover their old identity. They play tough defense and make teams beat them without getting second chance points.

If the Pacers hope to win a lot of games this year they must rebound the basketball and make good decisions on offense.

NBA Handicapping Basketball Trends:

  • Mavs are 4-0 ATS in their last four home games.
  • Mavs are 5-0 ATS vs. teams with a winning percentage below .400
  • Pacers are 2-3 away from home this year.
  • Pacers are 5-1 ATS in their last six meetings in Dallas.

4* Free NBA Pick: Mavs -12.5

With the Pacers still figuring out how to play without George and Stephenson it will make it very difficult for them to get wins against good teams, especially on the road. The Mavs have been playing great basketball and getting significant scoring contributions from eight different players.

Mavericks 104 — Pacers 89

Look for the Mavs to start their win streak again and put 100+ points.
