The Nuggets had lost five of their last seven, but halted  a four-game losing skid in style, by thrashing the New Orleans Pelicans 137-107, the last time out.

Kenneth Faried led the charge with a career-high 34 points while Aaron Brooks made six from long range for 24 points as the Nuggets sprinted out to an early 40-26 lead at the end of the first quarter and never took their foot of the accelerator.

Together Denver put on its best offensive performance of the season, shooting 56.5 percent from the field, while draining 15-of 27-from beyond the arc and moving the ball around well with 34 helpers.

The win improved the Nuggets record to 33-42 on the season and 20-18 at home where they had lost their last two.

Meanwhile, Memphis has lost three of their last four, and will be looking to get back on the rails after being upset by Minnesota on Wednesday.

The Timberwolves creamed the Grizzlies 102-88, despite a decent outing from Marc Gasol, who finished the game with 18 points while Courtney Lee chipped in with 14.

Nevertheless, the rest of the team struggled against the paltry T-Wolves, with the combination of Zach Randolph and Mike Conley combining for just 11 points on four for 23 shooting.

That’s the main reason that the Grizzlies shot just 42 percent from the field.

The loss tied Memphis with both Dallas and Phoenix, which puts major emphasis on them to win their last six games of the regular season.

Matt’s Prediction:

The Grizzlies need this win much  more than the Nuggets, and are 23-14 at home while Denver is just 13-24 on the road.

Memphis also has the size advantage here, and while they don’t necessarily do a ton more scoring than the Nuggets, they do play much better defense, raking third in the NBA in that category.

Grizzlies 101, Nuggets 94
