Denver Nuggets vs. Golden State Warriors Preview

The Nuggets avoided being eliminated in the last game in this series, but they are still down 3-2 and need a win tonight to force a Game 7 at home. Game 5 was a very physical game and it looks to be another hard fought battle tonight. NBA lines have the Warriors as slight 1-point home favorites with a total of 211.

In Game 5 the Nuggets beat the Warriors 107-100.

On the season the Nuggets are 49-37-1 ATS and they have an Over/Under record of 49-37-1 and the Warriors are 47-39-1 ATS and they have an Over/Under record of 50-36-1.

The Warriors have covered the spread in every game in this series.

This season the Warriors are 30-13 at home and the Nuggets are 19-24 on the road.

Unlike the previous 3 games in this series Golden State did not shoot lights out in Game 5. Overall they only shot 43.2% from the floor and none of the G trio of Klay Thomason, Stephen Curry, and Jarrett Jack shot 50% from the field.

Andrew Bugut was bothered by Denver’s physical play inside and he only had 2 points in Game 5. [ad-6571516]

Every Denver player scored in double figures in Game 5 and unlike the Warriors they got solid scoring inside. In the game the Nuggets scored 50 points in the paint while the Warriors only had 24.

Bogut and the Warriors forward have to get some scoring inside to open up the perimeter for the guards to have open looks.

The Warriors had 17 turnovers in Game 5 and they have to be more careful with the rock tonight.

Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson are both great shooters, but they need to get to the hoop and score and get to the free throw line. In Game 5 neither of these guys took a single free throw.

In some betting trends for this Western Conference playoff game the Nuggets are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 road games, 0-5 ATS in their last 5 games overall, and they have an Over record of 7-2 in their last 9 games.

The Warriors are 8-0 ATS in their last 8 games overall and they have an Over record of 4-0 in their last 4 home games.

Jason’s Pick: I think this game will be a close one, but at home the Warriors and their guards will be too much to handle, as Golden State will win and take the series.
