The Philadelphia 76ers continues their current West Coast road trip with a visit to US Airways Center in Phoenix to face the Suns. The 76ers are looking to win their second game in a row while the Suns are shooting for four straight.

Philadelphia is coming off a 110-103 win last night over Golden State. They are now 22-34 on the year and have won seven out of their previous 10. In last night’s game Lou Williams took full advantage of his increased playing time due to the fact that Allen Iverson did not accompany the team on this West Coast trip as he is attending to a family illness. Williams scored a game high 26 points including a clutch three pointer late in the 4th quarter that helped seal the win. He added 10 rebounds and seven assists in one of his best games ever as a Sixer. Andre Igoudala also had a good night with 22 points and seven assists, Samuel Dalembert added 11 rebounds, and three other players scored in double figures. When Philadelphia gets that kind of production from their entire lineup they are actually a pretty tough team to beat.

The problem this season has been getting that kind of effort on a consistent basis.

Last night Phoenix snapped Oklahoma City’s nine game winning streak and extended theirs to three with a huge 104-102 victory. The win, their eighth in their last 10 moves the Suns record to 35-23 and puts them 1 ½ games behind Dallas for 4th place in the Western Conference. In the win over the Thunder, Amar’e Stoudemire led the Suns in scoring with 30 points, but Jason Richardson’s 10 ft jumper with less than a second to play proved to be the game winner. Richardson ended the night with 20 points and 13 rebounds and Grant Hill added 21 points and 9 rebounds to the winning effort. Through 58 games, led by Stoudemire’s 21.5 points per game average the Suns are the highest scoring team in the NBA averaging 109 points per game.

Steve Nash is averaging 17.6 points and 11.2 assists and Richardson is averaging 14.9 points and 5.3 rebounds per game.

After their big win over a red hot team, Phoenix needs to avoid a letdown tonight against a team they should easily beat at home.

The Suns are 21-7 at home, but the 76ers are not a bad road team at 12-17. Philly will find a way to hang in there for awhile, but in the end the Suns are just too strong and will wear them down for the win.
