Race: FedEX 400 benefiting Autism Speaks
Date: Sunday, May 15, 2011
Time: 1:15 PM EST (scheduled green flag)
TV: 1:00 PM EST on FOX
Track: Dover International Speedway

This puts Jimmie Johnson and AJ Allmendinger on the front row, followed by Dale Earnhardt Jr., Kasey Kahne, and Joey Logano.

Safe Bets:

1. Jimmie Johnson (3/1): Johnson is the odds-on favorite this weekend, pacing the first practice and starting on the pole, not to mention the fact that the 48 team has won three of the last four Dover Cup races. Even in the race he didn’t win – last year’s spring race – Johnson was dominant, leading 225 laps before being tagged for speeding on pit road late in the race.

2. Carl Edwards (12/1): Edwards is nicknamed “Concrete Carl” for a reason, with the best average finish among active drivers at Dover (7.7) along with a win. He starts 13th on Sunday and enters the race as the Sprint Cup Series points leader.

Dark Horse:

1. Greg Biffle (40/1): The Roush-Fenway teams of Edwards, Biffle, and Kenseth all run especially well at Dover. Biffle has won twice at this track and finished 6th here last year. He has the fourth-best average finish at Dover behind Edwards, Johnson, and Ryan Newman, and starts 12th on Sunday.

Summary: Kyle Busch, who’s been hot and cold at Dover in the Cup Series, had to replace an engine and will have to go to the back for the start of the race – he would have started 7th based on practice speeds. Busch has won two of the last six Cup races at Dover.

Rain may be an issue again Sunday.
