Preview: Dover is a one-mile racetrack known for two things – its concrete racing surface and its very difficult pit road. Off-season remodeling is supposed to eliminate some of the pit road problems that have plagued even the best drivers in the past, but the surface is still concrete – something that drivers tend to either like a lot or not at all.

Safe Bets:

1. Kyle Busch (+565): Busch won this race last year and also won earlier this year at Bristol – a track which Denny Hamlin recently likened to Dover. Busch also had the dominant car in Charlotte last week until rain took a potential win away from him. Along with his win, Busch has two second-place finishes in eight Dover starts.

2. Carl Edwards (+800): Although the No. 99 team’s performance seems to be a bit off so far this season, Edwards is still known as “Concrete Carl” because of his performance on tracks like Dover. He won here in 2007, has the best average finish among active drivers, and his five most recent Dover races have resulted in finishes of 2nd, 3rd, 1st, 2nd and 3rd.

Dark Horse:

1. Ryan Newman (+1600): Newman won three of four Dover races in 2003-2004 and had a second-place finish in 2007. With the strength that both Stewart-Haas cars have shown this year, Dover could be a good place for Newman to break into the win column.

Summary: Pundits think of Dover as a Ford (specifically Roush) track, but we are just as likely to see Toyota or GM in Victory Lane on Sunday. All eyes will be on Dale Earnhardt Jr. this weekend as well, following the long-anticipated departure of crew chief Tony Eury Jr.
