While not confirmed at this time, it is expected that right-hander Chris Carpenter will get the start tonight for St. Louis. It is only fitting that the man who most responsible for this team even being in this position gets a chance to pitch his way into baseball history. It was Carpenter’s Game 5 masterpiece in the NLDS against the heavily-favored Phillies that propelled this magical run. He is a perfect 3-0 this postseason with an ERA of 3.30. He started two games in this series; giving-up four earned runs on 11 hits in 13 innings of work.
