Texas Rangers (series tied 3-3)
Matt Harrison (0-1    7.36 ERA)

An 11th-inning Cardinals’ home run kept the champagne on ice for at least one more night or possibly for good as its 10-9 extra-inning loss forces a winner-take-all Game 7 tonight.

The Rangers will put their title hopes behind the left arm of Matt Harrison. He gets the nod over Game 4 hero Derek Holland despite getting shelled for six hits and five earned runs in just 3 2/3 innings in Game 3. Harrison is 1-1 this postseason with an ERA of 5.02. During the regular season he went 14-9 with a 3.39 ERA.

St. Louis Cardinals (series tied 3-3)
Chris Carpenter (1-0   2.77 ERA)

The cardiac Cardinals once-again found a way to keep their improbable run through the MLB postseason alive with a David Freese walk-off home run to win Game 6. The series momentum now shifts squarely in their favor as all signs point towards St. Louis capping-off two months of incredible play with MLB’s top prize; a World Series Title. While not confirmed at this time, it is expected that right-hander Chris Carpenter will get the start tonight for St. Louis. It is only fitting that the man who most responsible for this team even being in this position gets a chance to pitch his way into baseball history. It was Carpenter’s Game 5 masterpiece in the NLDS against the heavily-favored Phillies that propelled this magical run. He is a perfect 3-0 this postseason with an ERA of 3.30. He started two games in this series; giving-up four earned runs on 11 hits in 13 innings of work.

The Pick

You never want to base a pick on emotion, but after crunching all the numbers in this matchup, the simple truth is that it is hard to see the Cardinals losing this game after last night’s epic effort to keep this series alive. The Rangers are not just nicked-up a bit with injuries to Nelson Cruz and Mike Napoli, they are demoralized for letting what looked like a sure victory in last night’s game slip away.

St. Louis 7 vs. Texas 4
