Dawson Not Pleased With Cooperstown
Despite his preference for the Cubs, the Baseball Hall of Fame has decided to induct Andre Dawson as a Montreal Expo.

Dawson spent ten years as a star in Montreal, and only six in Chicago, but did have his MVP season in the Windy City.
Dawson was very open about his wish to be inducted as a Cub. He called the announcement that he would be an Expo “gut wrenching”.
But the Hall claims that they had to make the decision based on where Dawson had the most impact. Dawson had 1,575 of his 2,774 hits while in Montreal, won six of his eight golden gloves, and led the Expos to their one and only playoff series victory in 1981.
The Hall also claimed that it had the responsibility to “properly interpret the game’s history”. The fact that the franchise in Montreal no longer exists, Dawson believes, was the major factor in the Hall’s decision.
Reports that Wade Boggs had been offered financial compensation by the Tampa Bay Devil Rays in 1999 in exchange for wearing a Rays’ cap on his plaque made the Hall change revoke their policy of letting the player choose themselves.
But Dawson will still be the only player inducted in the class of 2010. And Dawson is hoping to be able to tip his (Cubs) hat to the fans during his induction speech, which will be on July 25th.
