Los Angeles
This is a team that is still not clickingon all cylinders with one proof of that being the fact that they are much more successful on the road than at home.
That is not a bad thing as they visit San Diego looking to extend their winning streak. This is just the second series between these two with LA having taken 2 of 3 at home back in April.

In an amazingly deep rotation Dan Haren is more than holding his own. Believe it or not his 3.54 ERA is the highest in the group but he is making all of his turns and is giving the Dodgers a chance to win every time he goes out there.
Only twice all season long has he failed to pitch 6 innings and only twice has he given up more than three runs. It is not quite a renaissance but Haren is proving that with the right support he is far from done.

San Diego
For the Padres, it is all going to come down to how much offense they can generate.
They are the lowest scoring team in the league, scoring an embarrassing 2.96 runs per game. Their team batting average is a paltry .214 which I didn’t even think was possible. They have only scored as many as 5 runs once since May 30.
The really amazing thing is that they win at all but they enter the weekend against L.A. having taken the last two games of their series against Seattle.
Things got so bad for Ian Kennedy in the desert that it was easy too forget just how good he was for a two year stretch for the Diamondbacks.
He is not quite back to that form but the move to SD has been good and he has the kind of peripherals that on any other team he would probably be 8-5 instead of 5-8.
The weird thing about his numbers though is that he is actually slightly more effective on the road, a rarity for Padres starters.
There are few situations in which I would make the Padres the favourite and this is not one of them so I think you have to take Los Angeles, with the little extra value. To say the San Diego offense is anemic is understating things so you just can’t get behind them with any confidence.
The sad thing is that is not likely to change.
