They unexpectedly find themselves looking up at two teams in the NL West as this team has struggled to find the level of play they had over the second half of last season.
The weird thing is how much better a record they have at home than on the road. They are 16-9 on the road this season, only Oakland has a better record in that situation.

With Jose Fernandez on the shelf and Johnny Cueto recently getting roughed up by Washington you can make a case that NL wins leader, Zach Greinke, is the best pitcher in the league right now.
Certainly L.A. would be a lot worse off if he had not been so strong while Clayton Kershaw recovered from injury.
He is a great reason to think that the Dodgers are going to close their series in New York with a win.

New York was hanging in there for a while but now it seems they are falling to their expected level.
They have lost 6 of their last 7 and are hoping to at least avoid a sweep against the Dodgers. The offense has been the primary culprit as only once over that span have they scored more than 4 runs – it was their only win too. One bright side is that Curtis Granderson may be coming out of his funk.
Over the last 10 games he has 4 multi-hit game and half of his 6 homers.
The Mets keep waiting for Jonathan Niese to put it all together.
There is no question he has talent but he is maddeningly inconsistent and coming off his worst outing of the season. That could mean that a gem is on its way or it could mean that the Mets are going to need to score a half dozen runs just to be in the ballgame.
Against a weaker team I like Niese a lot but unless he is really on the Mets could be in trouble.
I like Niese but I am not going to back the Mets in this one even though I know he could pitch them to victory. Greinke has just been so good this season and the Mets offense too sporadic. I also feel like the best value is probably on the over. Sometimes these totals just creep a little too low.
