ATS Matchup Insight | CappersPicks Insider Preview

Texas (38-52) has lost nine of 10 and is 3-17 since the middle of June after dropping games one at two to Houston (38-54), which was 2-17 against the Rangers last year, but has collected 20 runs and 29 hits in two consecutive victories in Arlington.

A pair of homers in Tuesday’s 8-3 win from Chris Carter, lifted the Astros to their fourth straight win versus the Rangers, their longest winning streak in the series since 2002.

They will look to keep that streak alive by sending Dallas Keuchel to the mound in game 3.

The south paw started the season well, but it all fell off the tracks during his last three starts, in which he has gone 0-2, while surrendering 14 runs during 18 innings of work.

Keuchel posted a no-decision in his last turn, allowing five runs o 13 hits in five innings against the Angles, but could rebound nicely against Texas, a team that he posted his first career shutout against back on May 13.

He will have to watch out for Rangers’ third baseman Adrian Beltre, who is riding a 12-game hitting streak.

The Rangers in the meantime, will counter with Yu Darvish who is also battling through a rough patch of his own in his last four starts.

The right-hander has given up at least four runs in three of them. However, all three of those came on the road, including his last start at the New York Mets. Darvish gave up four runs in five innings of a no-decision.

He is 4-1 with a 2.29 ERA lifetime versus the Astros and hurled eight scoreless innings of one-hit ball against the cross-state rival back in April.

Matt’s Free Prediction: Rangers

Both the Astros and the Rangers are in trouble and it’s really hard to pick a clear winner here.

But the I am going with the Rangers, who should get enough from Darvish to win this one.
