Interleague action takes place Tuesday night in Atlanta as the Braves and Rays meet in a 3 game set. The Braves come in off easily their best series of the season as they swept away the  Marlins with 3 solid pitching performances.

The Rays salvaged the series against the Twins as they avoided a 3 game sweep with an offensive outburst in the finale. Currently, Tampa Bay sits 1 game out of first place in the AL East and Atlanta sits 4 back in NL East.

Tampa Bay Rays

The Rays ran into a hot Twins team over the past weekend, but they were at least able to salvage the series with an 11-3 win on Sunday. The offensive took out some frustration as they had 19 hits and Chris Archer went 6 strong innings in the win. They’ll now look for back-to-back wins as they send Erasmo Ramirez to the mound.

Previously pitching out of the bullpen, Ramirez has excelled as a starter this season.

Ramirez pitched 5.0 scoreless innings allowing just 1 hit in a 6-1 victory over the Yankees last time out.

Ramirez has allowed just 3 runs in his last 19 innings pitched.

First baseman James Loney will look to push his hit streak to 6 as he’s hit .484 over his current 5 game hitting streak.

Atlanta Braves

The Braves weren’t expected to be in the conversation this year as far as the NL East was concerned. However, following a 3 game sweep and a near no hitter of the Miami Marlins, Atlanta sits just 1 game under the .500 mark and 4 games behind the Mets for 1st place. They’ll look for another stellar pitching performance as they send Mike Foltynewicz.

In 3 starts this season, the right hander is 2-0, but has an inflated ERA that sits at 4.24.

In his last start, Foltynewicz went 6.2 innings allowing 3 runs (2 earned), but received a no decision in a 4-3 loss to the Reds.

Previous to that, he defeated the Phillies and Reds in back to back starts as he received 11 runs of support combined in both starts.

Atlanta’s Freddie Freeman will look to stay hot as he’s hit .388 over his last 20 games.

Atlanta has played offensively well inside Turner Field as they’ve averaged 4.75 runs in 16 home games.
