The Indians and Rays continue their 4 game set in Tampa Bay Wednesday night. The Indians came in extremely cold and unable to manufacture runs, but that has changed in the first two games of the series. The Indians scored 13 runs in the first 2 games of the series, this after scoring zero in a doubleheader on Sunday against Baltimore.

For the Rays, they’ve been unable to do too much against the Indians’ starters thus far.

Cleveland Indians vs. Tampa Bay Rays

Cleveland has been looking for any kind of spark to get themselves going. SP Cody Anderson and SP Danny Salazar have at least set the tone for this series as they both took perfect games late into their respective starts. Carlos Carrasco will try to follow that trend on Wednesday when he toes the rubber.

Carrasco is coming in off a solid start against Detroit that saw him allow just 2 runs on a JD Martinez blast. Carrasco is 5-2 in his last 7 starts and has looked much better from his inconsistent start to the season.

He faced the Rays in Cleveland and went 6.2 innings allowing 10 hits and 3 runs. Carrasco was able to limit the damage, but got no run support and received the loss.

The Indians offense is finally coming to life as they hit 3 home runs in Tuesday’s win, with two of those being non solo home runs.

For the Rays, they’ll go with RH Alex Colome. The Rays RH has not recorded a win in his last 7 starts.

He was a tough luck no decision receiver against the Indians in Cleveland when he pitched 7 innings allowing no runs, but saw Cody Anderson do the same thing. The Indians eventually went on to win that game 1-0.

Tampa Bay’s offense has been the main reason for their struggles as of late.

They’ve dropped 7 of 9 and have scored just 22 runs in that span. Tampa has dropped 3 straight but have kept pace in the AL East thanks to Texas going into Baltimore and winning the first 2 there.

Key Matchup: Colome vs. Kipnis

The Indians 2B is on absolute tear right now, especially against Tampa Bay. Kipnis is 4 of 9 this series with a home run and a double and is 10 for 19 this season.

MLB Handicapping Trends:

  • Indians are 9-3 in their last 12 during game 3 of a series.
  • Indians are 11-4 in their last 15 Wednesday games.
  • Rays are 2-5 in their last 7 during game 3 of a series.
  • Rays are 1-4 in their last 5 home games vs. a team with a losing record.

Free 4* MLB Pick: Over 7

The Indians offense is starting to hit the ball and the Rays knocked Carrasco around in Cleveland.

Cleveland 6, Tampa Bay 4

We should see some runs scored on Wednesday.
