The Indians and Orioles get set to begin a 3 game series inside Camden Yards in Baltimore. The Indians avoided a 3 game sweep against the Tigers on Wednesday with an 8-2 win and look to string together some wins to get back into the AL Central race as the month of the June winds down.

As for Baltimore, they stay hot and now have won 15 of 20 and are within 2 games of the AL East lead.

Cleveland Indians vs Baltimore Orioles

An American League showdown with two teams who are attempting to climb up their respective standings takes place on Friday. Cleveland has struggled to find any sort of consistency, especially at home. They’ll hope to use this 10 game road swing where they’ve played their best ball, to try and get back to the .500 mark.

As for Baltimore, they have erased their early season struggles and continue to dominate every body in their way.

Cleveland will look to ace Corey Kluber to get the Tribe back-to-back wins for the first time in quite some time.

Kluber has had an unfortunate 0-4 June thus far. The word unfortunate is used because he’s received very little run support this month. In fact, in his 15 starts this season, Cleveland has scored 2 runs or fewer. That was the case on Saturday against the Rays as Kluber had a rough first inning, but settled in nicely to keep the Indians in the game.

However, the Indians offense failed to make any real threats until the 9th when they loaded the bases only to have Giovanny Urshela go down looking to end the game.

Kluber brings in a 1-1 record vs. the Orioles with an ERA of 3.26.

As mentioned earlier, Cleveland has had much better play on the road as they are 18-15 S.U. and only allowing 3.42 runs against per game.

For Baltimore, they’ll go with LH Wei-Yin Chen. The Orioles right hander was actually demoted after throwing 8 scoreless innings against Philadelphia on June 15th because his next start game against the Blue Jays.

The question of the demotion was confusing enough, but Chen was sent back down to Class A.

Baltimore’s offense has been extremely efficient at home this season as they average above 5 runs a game which has led them to S.U. record of 24-14.

The Two teams faced off in Cleveland already once this season and the Orioles took 2 of 3 winning Games 1 and 3 of the series.

MLB Handicapping Trends:

  • Indians are 10-4 in their last 14 road games.
  • Indians are 9-4 in their last 13 road games with the total set at 7.0-8.5.
  • Orioles are 11-5 in Chens last 16 starts vs. American League Central.
  • Orioles are 1-4 in Chens last 5 starts after scoring 5 runs or more in their previous game.

Free 4* MLB Pick: Over 7.5

Even though the Indians haven’t scored for Kluber that much, the confines of Camden Yards could be the answer. We should see a high scoring game here.

Cleveland 8, Baltimore 5
