Chicago ‘s Tyler Saladino has hit safely in seven straight games and homered in each of the last two. Now he will see if he can propel his White Sox past a major league-best St. Louis Cardinals, who won Game 1 of a two-game interleague set that concludes on Wednesday night at U.S. Cellular Field.

The Cardinals St. (59-34) are the best team in the entire league and have a chance to extend their current streak to two after an 8-5 victory Tuesday over Chicago, thanks in part to Matt Holliday’s fourth-inning grand slam.

Meanwhile, the White Sox (42-49) proceeded the loss to the Cards on Tuesday, by losing three of four Kansas City over the weekend . Ironically, they dropped five of six after winning nine of 12, beginning with two games in St. Louis.

Chicago will try to find some of that success by starting veteran John Danks on the bump on Wednesday. The right hander has pitched decent of late and shut out the AL leading Kansas City Royals over six innings to earn a win his last time out. Danks will be is facing St. Louis for the first time – the only team he has never faced.

The Cardinals will counter with Lance Lynn, who allowed just a single run on three hits in seven innings while striking out nine to earn a win over the New York Mets on Friday. The lefty has now only given up two or fewer earned runs in seven of his last eight starts. Lynn already faced Chicago back in June, but did not factor in a decision, despite allowing one run in six innings.

He is 1-0 with a 0.68 ERA against the White Sox.

Cardinals – Danks has pitched well as of late and has yet to yield a home run in any of his last three starts. Pitching is a big part of why the Cardinals are dong so well, and because of that, they win the matchup here.
