The Giants will continue their 10-game road trip with a visit to venerable Wrigley Field, when the open a four-game series against the Cubs on Thursday night in Chicago.

Giants

The Giants have gone 3-3 so far on their recent road trip, posting back-to-back wins at Atlanta on Tuesday and Wednesday.

They still trail the Dodgers for the lead in the NL West, but cruised to a 6-1 W at Turner Field.

The G-Men got hits from five different players including second baseman Kelby Tomlinson who started his MLB career 3-for-3, becoming the first Giant to do that since Fred Lewis in 2006.

Pitching has been San Francisco’s success, and it will look to continue its streak by sending Chris Heston (11-5, 3.24 ERA) to the mound in Game 1. The right-hander has

posted four consecutive wins and ranks fifth in the NL with 11 wins. He is coming off a 9-7 win at Texas his last time out. Heston will face the Cubs for the first time in

his short MLB career.

Cubs

The Cubs return home after a seven-game road trip, during which they went 5-1, with one game being postponed due to weather.

Chicago had also won five straight before losing to the Pirates, 7-5 in their series finale on Wednesday. Poor fielding from the Cubs, ruined Dan Haren’s pitching debut and dropped them to a half-game behind the Giants in the NL wild card race.

The Cubbies will try to get back on the rails by going with veteran hurler Jason Hammel on Thursday. The right-handed 32-year-old notched the win Friday against the

Brewers, giving up only one run and six hits over 5.2 innings. The bounce-back performance was much-needed after he had been tagged for a season-high six runs and

eight hits in four frames in his previous start versus the Phillies. Hammel is 8th in NL in WHIP (1.04) and will face San Francisco for the first time in his long career.

MLB Betting Trends:

  • SF are 16-5 in their last 21 overall.
  • SF are 16-5 in their last 21 games on grass.
  • SF are 11-5 in their last 16 Thu. games.
  • CHC are 6-2 in their last 8 games following a loss.
  • CHC are 6-2 in their last 8 Thu. games.
  • CHC are 3-7 in their last 10 home games.

4* MLB Betting Prediction: Giants 110

This one is tough with two pitchers who are capable of going the distance. But I am going with the Giants here, as I expect more run support from hot San Francisco lineup that’s scored 32 runs in its last five games.

MLB Baseball Score Prediction: San Francisco 7, Cubs 3
