Minnesota
The Twins are refusing to go away. Even though they lost on Sunday they won their weekend series against the Rays and took game one of this series last night.

Not that long ago people were wondering if the money had gotten to Brian Dozier but last night he hit home run number 7 which leads the team and he is making it tough for opponents at the top of that lineup.
Minnesota is in the top ten in scoring which is covering for their mediocre pitching so far.
Mike Pelfrey should not be in the Majors but he has been very serviceable for Minnesota this season.

That makes me think the bottom is about fall out but maybe he can take advantage of a struggling Pirates team. His peripherals are definitely nothing to write home about as he is barely striking out more batters than he walks.
There is some value but Pelfrey makes me nervous.
Pittsburgh
The Pirates are continuing to sputter along this season.
After back to back playoff appearances they just can’t get it going this season because the offense has been sporadic.
Starling Marte has taken a step forward and has been batting cleanup with his team leading 8 homers but Andrew McCutchen and Pedro Alvarez have struggled.
Import Jung-ho Kang seems to be acclimating nicely and has really come on lately with 7 hits in his last three games.
Pittsburgh needs the offense wherever they can get it.
Pittsburgh has been getting good pitching but little of it has come from Jeff Locke, who has the rotation’s highest ERA at 5.40.
His peripheral are not alarming, he just needs to be more consistent as less than half of his starts have been of the quality variety.

He has been much better at home this season but I am surprised how much the oddsmakers are making you give to take him and the Bucs on Wednesday.
