The Angles will try to avoid a sweep in Houston, when the take on the Astros who will try and win their sixth straight victory at Minute Maid Park on Thursday in the series finale.
Los Angeles
The Halos made a couple of moves earlier this week, but they didn’t pan out on Wednesday, as newly acquired David Murphy and David DeJesus went 1-for-8 in their Angels debuts.
Los Angeles lost for the fifth time in six games and are struggling without reigning AL MVP Mike Trout, who missed his second straight contest because of a wrist injury.

Meanwhile, first baseman Albert Pujols clubbed his 30th home run on Wednesday, and will be back in the lineup on Thursday, with Matt Shoemaker (5-7, 4.55 ERA) on the mound. The right-hander is 1-1 with an 8.76 ERA in four appearances against Houston.

Houston
Houston has continued to prove to the baseball world that their turnaround season is no fluke, and after averaging over 100 loses over the past four seasons, moved to one game ahead of Los Angles in the American League West standings with a 6-3 win over their rivals on Wednesday.
The Astros have now improved to 8-3 since the All-Star break and lead the majors with 140 home runs.
They will turn to newly acquired Scott Kazmir (6-5, 2.24 ERA), who walked away with a 4-0 victory over Kansas City on Friday in his first start since being acquired from Oakland.

The lefty is improved to 3-5 with a 6.42 ERA in eight starts versus Los Angeles after allowing one run in 7 1/3 innings of a 3-2 victory June 21.

The Halos lost for the fifth time in six games on Wednesday, while falling to 3-9 in its last 12 contests in Houston. And even though Shoemaker is hot, matching a career high 10 strikeouts in his last start, I think Kazmir can stave off an Angles offense without Trout.
