The Blue Jays will send Marco Estrada to the bump for his second start of the year Monday night. Estrada put together a 0.84 ERA in six appearances and 10 2/3 innings of work as a reliever, but that number ballooned up to 2.93 following his first start as a Blue Jay.

Estrada continuously got himself into a jams in a home start against the Yankees, allowing five runs – four of them earned – on eight hits over 4 2/3 innings in what would be a 6-3 loss to the Bronx Bombers.

The most devastating hit of the bunch was a two-run home run surrendered to Mark Teixeira in the fifth on Estrada’s final pitch of the game.

The Orioles counter with Ubaldo Jimenez. It’s been difficult to predict what to expect from Jimenez this season.

He’s displayed flashes of his former, dominant self at times, and looked downright abysmal others.

Jimenez’s two starts against the Blue Jays this season are a good example of that. In his first start against the Blue Jays, which was also his first start of the season, Jimenez didn’t allow a run over seven innings of work, surrendering only one hit and striking out eight while walking just one in a 7-1 victory in Baltimore.

In his next start against the Blue Jays, Jimenez gave up four runs over five innings of work, surrendering two home runs on six hits in a 4-2 Toronto victory.

Toronto’s most important hitters haven’t had a lot of success against Jimenez. Jose Bautista is 2-for-29 against Jimenez in his career, striking out six times. Edwin Encarnacion is 6-for-28, and Josh Donaldson is 1-for-12. Among those hits, only five went for extra bases.

FREE Blue Jays vs. Orioles Pick:

Picking a winner in this matchup isn’t easy. Both starting pitchers have the potential to get lit up, and both offenses have the ability to put up a ton of runs in a hurry. With that in mind, both starting pitchers have solid base numbers which allows bettors to get in on the over at a favorable number.

MLB Betting Trends:

The over is 4-1-1 in the last six meetings between these teams, and it is 3-1-1 in the last five meetings in Baltimore.

[dfads params=’groups=63745&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]

The over is 3-0-1 in Jimenez’s last four home starts, and it is 8-3-1 in the Orioles’ last 12 games as a home favorite.

The over is 10-4-1 in the Blue Jays’ last 15 road games, and it is 5-1 in their last six games as a road underdog.

The play: Over 8.5
