MLB: Diamondbacks vs Rangers Predictions

Major League Baseball betting sees the Arizona Diamondbacks taking on the Texas Rangers at Globe Life Park in Arlington, Texas. Cappers Picks provides complimentary handicapping picks all MLB season long.

These teams have fought hard to stay relevant this season. How much longer they can remain doing so remains to be seen.

I have to admit that I am developing a bit of a man crush for Paul Goldschmidt. His numbers are awesome this season once again but he never gets talked about as being among the best in the game. The offense is there for the team overall but the pitching is terrible. Nobody who is consistent and nobody to fear. I am not sure it is going to get much better either.

Jeremy Hellickson was barely getting with Tampa and the move to the National League has not helped him yet. Granted Chase Field is definitely a hitter’s park but his numbers have actually been better at home than on the road, though neither are really any good. The only encouraging sign was that his last game was probably his best, as he pretty much shut down a pretty good Colorado team.

Texas is limping into the break. They lost last night, their fourth in a row, all at home. The fact that they are only a couple of games below .500 still surprises me as they have been ravaged by injuries. Over the four game losing streak they have given up 37 runs and they are not the offensive juggernaut they were when Josh Hamilton first toured through Arlington. He hasn’t provided much and Shin Soo Choo has not rebounded after a tough first year for the Rangers. The potential is there though.

Matt Harrison has been activated after a spinal injury and is expected to start on Wednesday. This will be his first start of the season and they are hoping for a glimpse of the pitcher who won 18 games just three seasons ago. It is hard to know what to expect given that he has pitched less than 30 innings over the last two seasons combined. You can’t make a play on Texas in this one.

Even though I am not fond of Hellickson you have to take the value with Arizona.

MLB Score Prediction:  Arizona 7 – Texas 4

Even though I am not fond of Hellickson you have to take the value with Arizona. Harrison is too much of a wild card.
