It looks as if the Red Sox are already out of the playoff picture while the White Sox are still in the race and may have to rely on the Wild Card to make the post-season.

Chicago White Sox

The White Sox have won the first 2 games of this series and they have won 6 straight overall.

Chicago is in 3rd place in the AL Central 12.5 games back of the Kansas City Royals, but they are 6.5 games out of the last AL Wild Card spot.

The White Sox only rank 29th in the Majors in runs scored, but in their winning streak their offense has come alive averaging over 7 runs per game.

The pitching has been decent this season ranking 15th in runs scored and if they are going to make up ground in the Wild Card race their offense has to keep hitting like they have been in their 6-game streak.

Boston Red Sox

The Red Sox have lost 3 of their last 4 games including the first 2 games of this series at home. Boston is in the basement of the AL East 14 games back of the New York Yankees.

David Ortiz leads the Red Sox in HR and RBI and while the Boston offense has been decent on the season ranking 14th in runs scored it has been their pitching thath as been the issue ranking 27th in team ERA.

The Red Sox may have already threw in the towel for the season, as they traded Shane Victorino to the Angels recently and that may not be the last trade they make.

Many thought the Red Sox were THE team to beat this season in the AL East and while I was not one of them I did not think they would be this bad.

Rick Porcello has not had a great first season in a Red Sox uniform, but Boston has won 2 of their last 3 games when he has been on the hill. In his last start he was solid going 7 innings and only giving up 1 earned run in a 2-1 win over the Detroit Tigers.

The Red Sox are 3-8 in Porcello’s last 11 starts and only 2-5 in their last 7 games asa a favourite with him getting the nod.

It seems like Porcello is pitching well as of late, but he still has an ERA of over 5.50 for the season.

MLB Betting Trends:

* White Sox are 6-0 in their last 6 overall.
* White Sox are 5-0 in their last 5 games as a road underdog
* Red Sox are 2-11 in their last 13 overall.
* Red Sox are 1-4 in their last 5 home games vs. a team with a losing road record.
* Red Sox have an Over record of 7-3 in their last 10 games.

4* MLB Betting Prediction: White Sox +105

After losing 3 straight games with Jose Quintana on the mound he got the win in his last start where he was stellar going 9 innings and not giving up any earned runs in a 6-0 win over the Cleveland Indians.

MLB Baseball Score Prediction:  Chicago 6 – Boston 2

Quintana will have another good outing tonight, but the White Sox will win because of their hot bats, which will get to Porcello.
