The Yankees are a -195 favorite to win the World Series in World Series Betting, and are currently a -162 favorite to win Game 1 in MLB Betting Odds.

New York is a 1.5-point favorite (+125) and the over/under total is 8 (Over, -105; Under, -115) for the opener.

Dubbed the “Amtrak World Series” by The New York Times, the Phillies and Yankees have met in the Fall Classic just once previously – in 1950, when the Yankees swept the Phillies 4-0 to win their 13th title.

New York is 6-4 SU over the past 10 meetings. The teams last squared off in May, when Philadelphia edged New York 4-3 on the road to win the three-game set 2-1. That was their first regular-season meeting since 2006.

The Yankees beat the Los Angeles Angels 5-2 in Game 6 of the ALCS on Sunday to win the best-of-seven series 4-2. Philadelphia finished off the Los Angeles Dodgers in five games in the NLCS.

Many are expecting an explosive offensive series, as the Yankees and Phillies combined for more regular-season home runs than any World Series opponents in history. New York had 244 this season and Philadelphia 224.

The only other World Series in which both teams had 200-home run seasons were the 2001 series between the Yankees and the Arizona Diamondbacks and 2004 between the Boston Red Sox and the St. Louis Cardinals.

Lefthander Cliff Lee (16-13, 2.99 ERA) will start for the Phillies against fellow lefty C.C. Sabathia (22-8, 3.17 ERA) for the Yankees.
