MLB Free Agent Update

The MLB free agent signing period is well underway and sports betting fans need to start paying attention as there is no doubt that some of the signings should greatly impact the chances of certain teams against the BetUS online sportsbook MLB betting spread.

Both teams in New York, the Mets and the Yankees, made the biggest early free agent signing splashes while one team in Los Angeles was in danger of losing some of its status as a pennant contender until it took care of business just this morning!

Let’s get to it!

MLB Baseball Betting Teams Most Helped by Free Agency…So Far

1. New York Yankees – – BetUS online betting odds + 650 to win the World Series – – The Yanks are tops because they signed two pitchers that will automatically help their rotation, C.C. Sabbathia and A.J. Burnett. Both guys are a huge upgrade to a staff that boasted maybe one real lock down guy in Chien Ming-Wang. With all three guys supposedly ready to take the mound, the Yankees could easily win games by scoring 5 to 6 runs. They have the offensive to do this with regularity each game and now, hypothetically, don’t have to score 8 to 10 runs to win games. Manager Joe Girardi will be happy and online wagering fans should be as well with the Yankees at the top of the American League again. Yes, they overpaid for both C.C. and A.J. but who cares? They’re going to win way more games in 2009 than 2008.

2. New York Mets – – BetUS online betting odds + 1000 to win the World Series – – The online wagering odds on the New York Mets to win the World Series are still in the double-digits. This after signing Francisco Rodriguez, who broke the record for saves in a season at 62 last season, to keep things together in the later innings after Johann Santana has shut-down batters for seven. The Mets upgraded themselves in a big way if K-Rod still has his stuff. Some baseball watchers believe that K-Rod may have burnt himself out last season. K-Rod doesn’t think so saying that the only challenge he sees in New York is “the weather”.

3. Whichever Team Lands Mark Texeira – – The teams that are still in the running are the Los Angeles Angels, Boston Red Sox and Washington Nationals. My online betting money is on the Boston Red Sox who are currently at + 750 in the BetUS online sportsbook to win the World Series. G.M. Theo Epstein will get it done if he feels it will help the BoSox. The Angels already made a pitch and Texeira could play for the Nationals but he won’t like it. It’s Boston in my eyes.

4. Los Angeles Dodgers – – BetUS online betting odds + 1400 to win the World Series – – The Dodgers resigned Casey Blake, their starting third baseman, last week and just resigned their starting short-stop, Rafael Furcal, this morning. It’s still not in the books – – the Furcal signing – – but it’s pretty definite. If that’s the case, then the L.A. Dodgers will have made a huge leap forward in becoming a force in the National League. Of course, they still need pitching, but solidifying your base is the way to go in not just politics but baseball as well.

5. Chicago Cubs – – BetUS online betting odds + 850 to win the World Series – – The Cubs resigned pitcher Ryan Dempster. That was very important because this team is truly only some good luck away from winning the World Series. Dempster will continue to pitch very well for the Cubs and the Cubs will once again put themselves in a position to win the National League Pennant. Now, will they? That’s a different argument!

6. Whichever Team Signs Manny Ramirez – – The Dodgers still have a shot, but it’s obvious that Manny wants to get the most money he can. He’s also dying to play in New York for the Yankees but the Yanks aren’t biting just yet. Which other team has a shot at Manny? How about the Los Angeles Angels who might be looking to replace Mark Texeira with the 37 year old Ramirez. The Angles are at + 850 in the BetUS online sportsbook to win the World Series.
