The Orioles and Royals meet inside Kauffman Stadium in an American weekday series starting Monday night.
The Royals have all but locked up the AL Central Division and will now look to solidify their home field advantage fate in the post season.
As for Baltimore, they have a lot of work to do still as they battle with a cluster of teams in the AL Wild Card race.

Baltimore has dropped 4 in a row and things won’t get easier for them as they embark on a 7 game road trip, with four of those here in KC.
The Royals come in off another successful road trip that saw them go 4-2 with a come from behind win on Sunday.
Baltimore Orioles
Baltimore had high hopes with their past 10 game home stand and saw it as a legit chance to pull much closer in the AL East and AL Wild Card. In fact, they even held the lead for a day in the 2nd spot of the AL Wild Card.
They won 5 of their first 6 games, but were then swept away by Minnesota to finish their home stand at .500 at 5-5.
The Orioles now sit 2.0 games behind the 2nd Wild Card spot and will look have to do some damage control with a tough road trip starting in KC.

Ubaldo Jimenez gets the call to open the series Monday night and he’s been a struggle lately. Jimenez sports an ERA of over 7 in his last 7 road starts.
He’s also been a struggle against the Royals in his career as he brings in just a 4-4 record with an ERA well above 4 over 12 starts.
Baltimore has just a 23-35 road record to their name, which has been one of the main reasons for being back in the standings.
Kansas City Royals
The Royals return to the post season is solidified, but that doesn’t mean they can let up. Their 12.5 game lead in the AL Central is pretty, but now going for home field throughout the entire post season is the important factor.
Kansas City rallied for an 8-6 win Sunday afternoon in Boston to capture a 4-2 road trip. Eric Hosmer belted a 2 run game tying single in the 9th, which gave way to Mike Moustakas, who ripped a 2 run game winning double.
Kansas City has now won 7 of 9 and return home to a place where they are 42-20 this season.

They’ll give the ball to Kris Medlen, who is making his first start since 2013. Tehran battled through Tommy John Surgery and used 7 relief appearances this season to get himself back into the rotation.
Over those 7 relief appearances, Medlen finished with 11 straight scoreless innings after getting knocked around in his first appearance.
Medlen has faced Baltimore only twice, out of the bullpen, and has allowed 4 runs in the process.
