The Juvenile – Saturday November 6th Post Time: 3:55 P.M. (EST)

The Juvenile is open to Thoroughbred colts and geldings age 2 and up. It is contested on a dirt track at a distance of 1 1/16 mile with a total prize purse of $2,000,000. There are three automatic bids awarded from wins in a designated Challenge Race for this division and the rest of the field is determined by total points earned over the course of the racing season. The following is a look at a few of the favorites that are expected to run this race.

Boys At Tosconova

This two-year old colt broke his maiden with a 12-length win at Belmont on July 2. He followed that up with a 1 ¾-length victory in the grade I $250,000 Hopeful Stakes at Saratoga on Sept. 6. He is trained by Richard Dutrow Jr. and will be ridden by Ramon Dominguez. After some impressive workouts at Aqueduct the past few weeks, Boys AT Tosconova is considered to be one of the top two favorites for The Juvenile.

Uncle Mo

This horse started his career with a 14 ½ -length win in a $60,000 Maiden Weight Special at Saratoga on August 28. He earned an automatic “Win and You’re In” entry into The Juvenile with a win in the grade I $300,000 Champagne Stakes at Belmont on Oct.9. He went off as the overwhelming favorite and raced to a relatively easy 4 ¾-lenghth victory over Mountain Town. Along with Boys At Tosconova, Uncle Mo is the other of the top two favorites for this race.

J. B.’s Thunder

In just his second career start, this horse earned an automatic berth in The Juvenile with a victory in the grade I Breeders’ Futurity at Keeneland and branded himself as one of the top two-year olds in the country. He blew the field away by jumping out an early lead and coasting to a four-length victory over Santiva. J.B. Thunder’s owner Andrea Pollack has yet to commit to running him in this race as she may opt for a run in the grade III Delta Jackpot on Nov. 20.

Jaycito

After a second-place finish in the grade I Del Mar Futurity in September, he earned an automatic “Win and You’re In” entry into the Juvenile with a victory in the grade I $250,000 Norfolk Stakes at Hollywood Park in early October. Trailing J P’s Gusto by a length with a furlong to go, Jaycito’s late kick was enough to best the favorite by a length for the win.

Predicted winner of the 2010 Juvenile: Uncle Mo
