The 3-4 Jacksonville Jaguars take on the 1-5 Dallas Cowboys this Sunday afternoon from Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, TX. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. (ET) and the game will be broadcast live on CBS.

Jacksonville appeared to be headed in the right direction earlier in the season but after getting outscored 73-23 in back-to-back losses to Tennessee and Kansas City, the Jaguars find themselves in the basement of the AFC South.

Part of their problem was losing QB David Garrard after he left the Titans game with a concussion, but the Jaguars’ defense has been atrocious this season pretty much across the board. They are ranked 25th against the run, 27th against the pass, and 30th overall. Jacksonville’s biggest problem has been keeping opposing teams out of the end zone as it is ranked 31st in the league in points allowed, giving up an average of 29.9 points per game.

The Jaguars are 3-4 both straight-up and against the spread on the year. They are 1-2 SU and ATS  on the road and the total has gone ‘over’ in five of the seven games. NFL Betting

Dallas added injury to insult this past Monday night after losing its starting QB Tony Romo for six to eight week with broken collarbone and losing to its bitter rival; the New York Giants 41-35. The loss was the Cowboys fifth in their first sixth games and they suddenly find themselves in last place in the NFC East; 4 ½ games out of first.

For a team that was expected to not only win its division, but to make it all the way to the Super Bowl, 2010 has been a nightmare season so far. Very few people will argue that Dallas has one of the most talented rosters in the league, but all this talent cannot figure out how to stop turning the ball over, taking costly penalties, and avoid the back-breaking mistakes that end up costing the team games.

The task to turn things around will now fall on the shoulders of journeyman QB John Kitna, as he will take over for Romo as the Cowboys’ starter. Given the fact that the team was 1-4 with Romo in there, he really has nowhere to go but up.

Dallas is 1-5 both SU and ATS this season. The Cowboys are winless at in their first three games at home this year and 0-3 ATS. The total has gone ‘over’ in four of their first six games.

The Jaguars are 5-14 ATS in their last 19 games overall and 2-7 ATS in their last nine games as an underdog. The total has gone ‘over’ in their last four games on the road. The Cowboys are 12-4 ATS in their last 16 games after giving up 30 or more points in their previous game. The total has gone ‘over’  in their last four home games.

With Kinta at the helm, Dallas is taking things one week at a time and fortunately the Jaguars are next up on the schedule. This game may not be pretty but the Cowboys will find a way to add one to the win column by at least seven points.

Giants/Texans Betting Trends:

Jacksonville is 3-8 SU in its last 11 games
Jacksonville is 5-14 ATS in its last 19 games
Dallas is 12-6 SU in its last 18 games at home
The total has gone OVER in 4 of Jacksonville’s last 5 games on the road
The total has gone OVER in 4 of Jacksonville’s last 6 games
Dallas is 2-4 SU in its last 6 games at home
Dallas is 1-6 SU in its last 7 games

The Pick: Dallas -6 ½ and OVER
