Arkansas
The Arkansas Razorbacks won their last six games of the regular season and will play in the Superdome against the Ohio State Buckeyes. Bobby Petrino has done a great job with this program and they are viewing this as a chance to prove just how good they are.
Ryan Mallett is the signal caller for this Arkansas team, and he is one of the best in the country. The 6’6 junior threw for 30 touchdowns and just 11 interceptions this season. He completed 66.5% of his passes for a total of 3,592 yards. The passing game is bolstered by an impressive group of wide receivers. Six players have caught at least four touchdown passes for Arkansas this year. Knile Davis has been a big surprise in the backfield, and he has helped them keep defenses honest. Davis is averaging 6.6 yards per carry and he has 13 touchdown runs this year. This offense averaged 37.3 points per game this season.
The Razorbacks defense is much better than it has been in recent years. The secondary is very good, but the front four are a little weak against the run. Arkansas is allowing 156 yards per game on the ground. Ohio State will likely do a lot of running in this one, so the front four will need to stuff the run in this matchup.

The Buckeyes have been in the news for the wrong reasons in the last couple weeks. Five key Ohio State players were suspended for the first five games of next season, but all will be allowed to play in this game. It remains to be seen whether they start the game or not. Ohio State finished the year with five straight impressive wins.
Terrelle Pryor is one of the Buckeyes in trouble, but he should be the quarterback for at least most of this game. Pryor has developed a much better passing game in the last year. He completed 65.8% of his passes this year. Pryor is still a great running threat as well and when he starts improvising he is at his best. Dan Herron finished the year with 1,068 yards despite splitting time with Brandon Saine most of the year. Herron ran for more than 100 yards in three of the last five games. Dane Sanzenbacher and DeVier Posey form a solid wide receiver duo for Ohio State. This offense has been very good this year, and they averaged 39.4 points per game.
The Ohio State defense is strong once again this year. They are second in the nation in total defense and third in points allowed per game at just 13.3. Arkansas will be one of the best offenses they have faced this year, so this defense will definitely get a big test. The Buckeyes front four isn’t as good as they have been in past years, and they’ll need to play their best football in this one to pressure Mallett and disrupt the Arkansas passing game.
The Pick:
Ohio State is 0-9 all-time against the SEC in bowl games. The Buckeyes want to prove they can beat a good team from the SEC. The Buckeyes defense has been more consistent this year, but Mallett will be a real test for them. In the end I think the Buckeyes probably win this one by about a touchdown.
