The boxing odds released by Sportsbook.com have De La Hoya as a -165 favorite with Pacquiao at +135.

You can also bet on the ‘Final Result’. For example, Pacquiao by a knockout is +450 while De La Hoya by a decision is +150. The Over/Under for the number of rounds is 9.5.

The 35 year-old De La Hoya is the Mexican-American legend who is nicknamed ‘The Golden Boy’. He has 30 knockouts to go with his 39-5 record and he feels he can get another one on Saturday with a four inch height advantage and five inches on the reach.

The 29 year-old Pacquiao, considered by many to be the world’s best pound-for-pound fighter, is nicknamed ‘The Mexicutioner’ for his victories over Mexican legends like Erik Morales, Marco Antonio Barrera and Juan Manuel Marquez.

Despite only being 5’6”, Pacquiao is a Filipino warrior and has plenty of power with 35 knockouts to go with a 47-3-2 career mark.

The boxing experts are pretty split on this outcome. De La Hoya, in addition to being the most famous man in the sport, is a lot stronger and he’s naturally about 15 pounds heavier.

The fight is set at 147 pounds, a weight De La Hoya hasn’t fought at since 2000 against Shane Mosley. Pacquiao is fighting at about 12 pounds more than his normal weight.

De La Hoya is a natural lefty, but he fights out of the orthodox stance and that makes his lead and jab hand very dangerous.

Pacquiao needs to be able to withstand the first few rounds when De La Hoya likes to come out with a vicious assault. Pacquiao has the stamina to fight all day if he wants to do and the longer it goes, the more this fight will swing to his advantage.

Pacquiao’s trainer Freddie Roach believes youth and stamina hold the key to victory.

“He’s going to find out that it’s going to take more than dieting down to a Twiggy-like 145 pounds to beat Manny,” Roach said. “He (Pacquiao) is looking forward to serving Oscar his just desserts at the MGM Grand on December 6th.”

For his part, De La Hoya is not taking the verbal jabs seriously and knows it‘s all part of the pre-fight hype.

“It’s obviously his way of pumping up his fighter,” De La Hoya said. “The great thing about me and Manny Pacquiao is that we don’t need to trash talk each other. My motivation for this fight is Manny Pacquiao’s explosiveness, Manny Pacquiao’s punching power, Manny Pacquiao’s speed, Manny Pacquiao’s youth. That’s my motivation.”
