NHL Free Pick | Dec 07, 2010
Anaheim Ducks vs. Edmonton Oilers
Play: 5* Oilers -125

Two teams battling to improve their positions in the NHL’s Western Conference basement meet tonight in Edmonton. The Ducks, who are 4-7-2 on the road this season, play the YOUNG HOT Oilers team who are 4-6-1 at home but won their last game to start their homestand in OT vs. St. Louis. Anaheim has lost 2 straight games, and Edmonton comes into this one riding a nice 4 straight game streak. Looking back further and we see Edmonton is also 5-1 SU in its last 6 games. Edmonton’s improved play of late coincides with the improved play of the brightest of their young stars, Taylor Hall. An early NHL Rookie of the year candidate. The Oilers will start Nikolai Khabibulin in goal on Tuesday. Hiller will get the call for Anaheim. Big names will be out for both teams tonight, as Hemsky will be out for the Oilers, and Selanne will miss this one for the Ducks. Nice matchup tonight in Edmonton and we like the Oilers on the moneyline at a great price. 5*

Jim Feist

NBA Free Pick | Dec 07, 2010
New Jersey Nets vs. Atlanta Hawks
Play: 1* New Jersey Nets +6½-110

FREE WINNER – Reason: The young New Jersey Nets are rested having not played a back to back spot yet this month. They take on an Atlanta team playing its 4th game in 5 nights, including a back to back spot at Orlando last night. Atlanta has been overvalued, not covering many games all season. They are a remarkable 1-10 against the spread at home! This is a tough situational handicapping spot for the home team, as well. Play the Nets.

NBA Tuesday Night Betting

The seven-game slate for the NBA on Tuesday has New Jersey at Atlanta, Cleveland at Philadelphia, Denver at Charlotte, Golden State at Dallas, Detroit at Houston, Phoenix at Portland, and Washington at the Lakers. The Los Angeles Lakers come into Tuesday night’s game against the Washington Wizards off a victory. Nothing surprising there, as the Lakers are the two-time defending NBA champions. Yet, considering the victory ended the Lakers’ four-game losing streak – their first since April 2007 – the victory takes on more significance. Los Angeles has won seven consecutive games in the series, last losing in a wild 147-141 overtime game Dec. 17, 2006. In that game, Gilbert Arenas established a Washington scoring record with 60 points. Lakers star Kobe Bryant scored 45 in what became a classic matchup between two of the NBA’s best scorers.

Tuesday CBB Betting

Tuesday’s college basketball schedule is highlighted by the Jimmy V Classic games at Madison Square Garden that match up four ranked teams: Memphis vs. Kansas, and Michigan State vs. Syracuse. Tuesday night’s marquee matchup is the contest against a top 10 team for No. 8 Michigan State. It’ll be the first true test, though, for No. 7 Syracuse. Luckily for Syracuse (8-0), Madison Square Garden has been like a second home. Syracuse is 6-2 in its last eight games there, including back-to-back wins over top-15 teams in an early season tournament last year.

Tuesday NHL Hockey Betting

There are five games on the NHL’s schedule for Tuesday, with Buffalo at Boston, Colorado at Florida, Tampa Bay at Calgary, Anaheim at Edmonton, and Ottawa at Montreal. Offensive production has been a season-long struggle for the Senators, who sit 28th in the league with only 61 goals in 28 games. Most of the blame sits with the team’s superstars. Daniel Alfredsson and top-line center Jason Spezza.
