The three American Idol finalists are set and betED.com has betting odds on who will be crowned the winner of the hit reality show.

Adam Lambert remains a big favorite at -375 in betED.com entertainment prop betting odds.

It’s basically a toss-up between the other two finalists, with Danny Gokey at +225 and Kris Allen at +250 in American Idol betting odds

The three have returned to their respective hometowns ahead of the 2009 American Idol season finale on May 20.

Over the weekend, Lambert visited his old high school in San Diego and put on a show with cheerleaders and a marching band as thousands of fans and students welcomed back their musical hero.

Lambert, 27, sang two songs to the crowd at Mount Carmel High School: Michael Jackson’s Black or White and Mad World.

In a much more somber event, Gokey sang gospel songs at the Milwaukee church where his late wife’s funeral was held.

Gokey was at Faith Builders International Ministries church, where he serves as musical director, singing songs to about 1,000 people. His wife, Sophia, died during surgery for a congenital heart defect four weeks before he auditioned for the show.

And Allen belted out a few tunes in front of 20,000 fans in Arkansas. Allen also sang a Jackson number – Man in the Mirror – as well as the Beatles classic Come Together.

Meanwhile, TV ratings for American Idol have dropped, but profits haven’t.

Average viewership has slipped from about 30 million at the show’s peak three years ago to about 25 million but The New York Times is reporting that Idol generated nearly $1 billion in advertising revenue for Fox last year, a number that’s grown every year.
