The Wyoming Cowboys look to close the 2011 regular season out strong on the road in Colorado.
The Battle for the Palmetto State will be a spicy one this year, as both of the state’s FBS representative have fielded excellent squads.
Not only is Alabama one of the best teams in the country (Tide fans might argue the best, as it was their own foolish miscues that put the LSU game out of reach in OT) it has an axe to grind with its hated Iron Bowl rival.
The game these two historical Big Ten powerhouses will circle on their calendars for eternity has been rather lopsided in recent history.
This Peachtree State rivalry is yet another major end-of-season showdown this week. “Pure, Old-Fashioned Hate” sums up the relationship between these two teams quite well.
If this game doesn’t have the exact same excitement and charged atmosphere that the earlier LSU-Alabama tilt had, it’ll be mighty close. This is an end of season SEC West clash that has oodles of conference title and National Title implications.
This is the Tigers’ last tune-up game before a big end of season showdown with #6 Arkansas. Perhaps that takes some of the mystique away from this game preview, but with all due respect to Ole Miss, that’s really the only way you can look at this game.
There will be no shortage of red hair and freckles to witness the classic match-up between the Boston College Eagles and the Irish of Notre Dame.
With a stellar one-loss season to its name so far, the only mark Clemson has against it is that it plays in the rather pedestrian (in football, at least) ACC. It has been a very redeeming season for the Tigers.
This truly has been a dream season for the Arkansas Razorbacks. While it would be even more so if LSU and Alabama weren’t so dominant themselves, the Hogs can only control what is within their grasp.
The Kentucky Wildcats cannot be too excited about the prospect of travelling to Athens to do battle with one of the hottest teams in the country.
After a gut-wrenching battle for the ages last week in Tuscaloosa, the Alabama Crimson Tide must be frustrated about all the opportunities they squandered, as they came up on the shy end of a 9-6 OT result.
The good news: Western Kentucky has a 5-1 conference record. The bad news: that conference is the Sun Belt. More bad news: WKU plays this Saturday night against the #1 team in the nation. Yet more bad news: the Hilltoppers travel to LSU to play in one of, if not the most daunting venues in America. Whoa boy.
If it weren’t for the unparalleled dominance of LSU and Alabama (indeed, Alabama’s only slip-up has come against LSU themselves) the Arkansas Razorbacks would look like a helluva football team. But, having only one loss and being ranked in the Top 10, the Hogs sit third on the heap in the SEC West division.
After last week’s crazy #1 versus #2 conference clash between LSU and Alabama, other marquee SEC match-ups seem anti-climactic. Trust me when I say, however, that will not be the sentiments Between the Hedges this Saturday afternoon.
