2015-2016 Football Previews (Big Ten)- Buckeyes
The Ohio State Buckeyes put together an amazing run and won the inaugural College Football Playoff last year. There were several times throughout last season where most people (including myself as a Buckeyes fan) essentially wrote off the Buckeyes’ chances of winning it all, but they came together and played excellent football late in the year.

Last year, Ohio State was often an underdog. Many thought the Buckeyes didn’t even deserve to be in the final four teams. The Buckeyes certainly proved they were more than worthy of that berth. The problem for Ohio State this year is that everyone will be gunning for them.

They are no longer the underdog with the chip on their shoulder. Urban Meyer is an elite coach, and his job this year will be to keep the team highly motivated and avoid a slip up. The roster is loaded. Let’s take a closer look.
Team Strengths
Let’s get the obvious one out of the way first. The Buckeyes are absolutely stacked at the quarterback position. Who will start here? It doesn’t matter a lot. Whoever it is will be a Heisman front runner and will do a great job leading the offense. I think it will likely be either JT Barrett or Cardale Jones in the end. The Buckeyes depth at quarterback is literally better than a few NFL teams right now.
Ezekiel Elliot looked like the best player in the country late last year. Elliot’s amazing cutting ability make him a really difficult guy to tackle in a one on one situation. I think we’ll see much more of the same from Elliot this year, and if I were going to back any one Buckeyes player for the Heisman, Elliot would be the guy. The offensive line’s transformation throughout the year last year was critical to Elliot’s success, and that group will be very good again this season.

The Buckeyes have some amazing star power on the defensive side of the football. Joey Bosa is the best defensive end in the country. Darron Lee has turned into a major playmaker at the linebacker spot. In the secondary, Ohio State is excellent. The Buckeyes secondary went from a major liability two years ago to a strength last year. With safeties like Vonn Bell and Tyvis Powell, they have a great back line of the defense.
Team Weaknesses
Devin Smith was a big loss at the wide receiver spot. Can Ohio State find another guy to be a big playmaker on the outside? Smith stretched the field better than anyone else in the country last year, and that really opened the field up for the running game.
While the Buckeyes have some solid possession receivers, I’m not sure if they have a game breaker this year.
There aren’t many weaknesses on this roster, but as I mentioned above Ohio State fans should be worried about complacency. It’s so tough to win back to back titles in this era. The Buckeyes can’t afford to lose any motivation or they won’t be able to meet expectations.
Ohio State Buckeyes 2015-2016 Prediction: 15-0
I’ll call for the Buckeyes to go unbeaten this year. There are plenty of chances for this team to lose, and I certainly won’t be shocked if they do, but on paper they are the best team in the country. Combine the level of talent they have with a coach like Urban Meyer and this team will be really tough to beat.

Please note though that I believe the Buckeyes will struggle to cover the number this year because the public is so high on them.
