Baseball’s second full weekend in May features several intriguing series’ between divisional mates, as well as a matchup between a surprising early front runner and an expected contender that is still finding its feet in ‘09.
With the usual 15 MLB matchups slated each day, it figures to be an exciting weekend on the diamond.
We’ve got some big second-round playoff action in the NBA and NHL this weekend, as well as a Sprint Cup NASCAR Race. The Los Angeles Lakers meet the Houston Rockets in Game 3 of their Western Conference semifinal series in Houston on Friday, and the Cleveland Cavaliers will be in Atlanta to take on the Hawks in Game 3 of their Eastern Conference semifinal Saturday.

Preview: Darlington Raceway is a venerable NASCAR venue in the heart of stock car racing’s traditional southeastern home base.
Maryland’s chief executive and several friends visited Saratoga in 1868 several years after America’s oldest track opened. Gov. Oden Bowie and other prominent racing figures attended a dinner party where they pledged to build a track in their state if a special race for 3-year-old colts and fillies was run in two years.
The 2009 Kentucky Derby was the second-biggest upset in Derby history, and easily the biggest in modern times. The 50-1 longshot Mine That Bird rallied from 19th place to win the Derby by 6 ¾ lengths, also the second-longest margin of victory in Derby history. Only two horses in the field had longer odds than him, Atomic Rain at 55-1 and Join in the Dance at 51-1.
