2026 NFL Handicapping – Las Vegas Raiders vs New York Jets
Here’s why I’m backing a NY ATS bet below in my Raiders Jets free pick & gambling prediction for this matchup.
Raiders vs. Jets Gameday
The Las Vegas Raiders visit the New York Jets on Sunday, November 1, 2026, for a Week 8 NFL matchup at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 PM ET on FOX.
Las Vegas enters at 3-4 under Klint Kubiak, including a 2-1 road record. The Raiders have dropped 4 straight after a promising start.
Four straight losses for Las Vegas, and the Jets haven’t exactly been setting the league on fire.
New York is 2-5 under Aaron Glenn and 1-2 at home. The Jets have lost 2 straight and need to stop their season from slipping away.
The Raiders have won the previous 4 meetings, including a 16-12 decision in 2023. Their 31-28 win at MetLife Stadium in 2020 was another close contest.
Las Vegas brings a productive passing offense, while New York has been stronger defending through the air. That contrast should make field position and execution important.
The Jets need to establish their ground game against a Raiders defense that has struggled stopping the run. Las Vegas will counter with its experienced passing attack.
Neither team has much room for another loss. The Raiders need to end their slide, while New York is trying to avoid falling further behind in the AFC.
It’s Week 8, Las Vegas Raiders vs. New York Jets, hopefully we get a great matchup.

Las Vegas Raiders vs. New York Jets Odds & Previous Games
The Jets opened as 1.5-point favorites with a -122 moneyline, while the Raiders returned +102. The total is 45.5 points, making this essentially a pick’em with New York getting a slight edge at home.
Las Vegas is 1-4 over its L5, beating New Orleans 35-27 before losing to Kansas City 30-27, New England 45-17, Buffalo 33-30 and the Rams 35-21.
New York is also 1-4 over its L5, defeating Cleveland 17-12. The Jets lost to Detroit 31-24, Chicago 23-12, New England 26-19 and Miami 28-25.
The Raiders’ recent defeats have included both close finishes and ugly defensive performances. Their offense has kept them competitive at times, but the results haven’t followed.
The Jets have had their own problems closing games. They’ve remained within striking distance against several opponents without doing enough to finish the job.
Las Vegas has the advantage in recent head-to-head history, although those results won’t decide Sunday’s matchup. New York needs to take advantage of its home field and stop giving away opportunities.

Jets Stats
New York has generated 2,121 total offensive yards through 7 games, averaging 303.0 YPG. The Jets have produced 1,446 passing yards and 675 rushing yards, with their ground attack still searching for consistency.
The offense has scored 137 points, averaging 19.6 PPG. That’s not enough production for a team that has repeatedly found itself chasing opponents.
Defensively, the Jets allow 315.4 total YPG. Their pass defense has been the stronger unit, surrendering 187.7 passing YPG.
New York can defend the pass, but opponents have been finding plenty of room on the ground.
The Jets allow 127.7 rushing YPG, an area that needs improvement. Missed tackles and inconsistent gap discipline have created problems against physical running attacks.
Braelon Allen delivered 104 rushing yards against Miami, giving New York an encouraging performance from its backfield. The Jets need that kind of production more consistently.
Breece Hall and Kene Nwangwu have been dealing with injury concerns. Their availability could affect how New York distributes carries and handles special teams responsibilities.
David Onyemata and Tre Brown are among the players on injured reserve. The Jets need their available defenders to hold up against a Raiders offense capable of attacking downfield.
Raiders Stats
Las Vegas has scored 183 points through 7 games, averaging 26.1 PPG. The Raiders have generated 1,883 passing yards but only 523 rushing yards, leaving their offense heavily dependent on throwing the football.
Tre Tucker has contributed 474 receiving yards and 4 TDs. His speed gives Las Vegas a dangerous option when opposing defenses leave room behind the secondary.
Defensively, the Raiders have surrendered 197 points, averaging 28.1 PPG. They’ve recorded 16 sacks but haven’t consistently kept opponents out of the end zone.
Las Vegas has allowed 1,005 rushing yards, an average of 143.6 YPG. That weakness has made it difficult to control possession and get opponents into obvious passing situations.
The Raiders have also struggled to produce stops when games tighten late. Their defensive problems have wasted several productive offensive performances.
Injuries have affected the team’s depth, with Tyler Scott, Chris Collier and Brennan Jackson among the unavailable players. Those absences leave less flexibility in several position groups.
Patrick Johnson has also been dealing with a neck issue. Las Vegas needs its remaining defensive contributors to provide a more disciplined performance against New York.
Raiders vs. Jets QB Matchup
Kirk Cousins leads Las Vegas with 1,877 passing yards, 16 TDs and 5 interceptions through 7 games. His production has been one of the few consistent strengths for the Raiders.
Cousins has been effective attacking downfield and finding receivers in scoring situations. His experience gives Las Vegas a reliable option when the offense needs to move quickly.
Protection remains important, particularly against a Jets secondary that has limited opposing passing production. Cousins needs time to work through his reads without forcing throws into coverage.
The Raiders have leaned heavily on his arm because their rushing attack hasn’t provided enough support. That imbalance places considerable responsibility on their veteran starter.
New York counters with Geno Smith, who has thrown for 1,623 yards, 10 TDs and 2 interceptions. His ability to protect the football has been a positive for an otherwise inconsistent offense.
Smith threw for 287 yards and 3 TDs against Miami. He showed he can generate scoring opportunities when the Jets give him enough protection.
New York needs Smith to recognize favorable matchups and avoid unnecessary risks. The Raiders have struggled defensively, but careless decisions could still turn a manageable game into another loss.

Smith has the benefit of playing at home, while Cousins brings the stronger TD production. Both veterans have enough experience to recognize defensive weaknesses and adjust during the game.
The matchup could come down to which offensive line provides cleaner protection. Neither team can afford to waste scoring opportunities with penalties or negative plays.
Las Vegas Raiders vs. New York Jets bottom line: Cousins gives the Raiders a dangerous passing attack, while New York needs Smith and its defense to take advantage of a vulnerable Las Vegas opponent.

Raiders Jets Free Pick: Jets -1.5
Here is my Raiders Jets free pick: I’m laying Jets -1.5. New York hasn’t earned anyone’s trust, but the Raiders have been giving opponents far too many opportunities, and I like the Jets to take advantage at home.
Las Vegas has struggled against the run, giving New York a chance to establish possession and dictate the pace. The Jets don’t need to get fancy here. Run the football, stay ahead of the chains and make the Raiders defend long drives.
The Jets don’t need to be great Sunday, but they do need to stop making ordinary football look so difficult.
The biggest concern is Cousins getting comfortable and turning this into a passing contest. New York needs to keep him off the field and force Las Vegas to play from behind.
At this number, a field-goal win gets the money. I’m not asking the Jets to dominate, but I do expect them to make enough plays against a defense that’s been far too generous.
New York has let too many winnable games slip away already. I expect a more disciplined effort at MetLife, and I’m putting my money on Jets -1.5.
