The Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders’<\/strong> 2014 NCAA Football<\/strong>\u00a0season was a roller coaster of a year. Many times were they were inconsistent on both sides of the ball, while other times they looked unstoppable. They won back-to-back games just one time and fell three points short at UTEP in their season finale to miss out on a postseason bowl.<\/p>\n C-USA\u00a02015-2016 College Football Preview- Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders<\/strong><\/b> Middle Tennessee will have the tough task of competing with Marshall in the Eastern side of C-USA. However, they have one of the most dangerous rushing attacks in the conference.<\/p>\n [dfads params=’groups=63738&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]<\/p>\n If Middle Tennessee can lock down defensively and get off to a quick start in the season, it’ll\u00a0be right up there with Marshall when things are all said and done.<\/p>\n Running Attack: Middle Tennessee’s run game was extremely stacked in 2014. The team\u00a0had five rushers go for over 200 yards, and four of those had almost 500 yards or more.<\/p>\n They’ll have four of those players back for the 2015 season, including Jordan Parker and Shane Tucker. The duo rushed for over 1000 yards combined and found the end zone 10 times.<\/p>\n [dfads params=’groups=66501&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]<\/p>\n Also in the rushing attack is QB Austin Grammer. The now-Jr. QB had 614 yards and six touchdowns on 98 attempts in 2014. He’ll likely lineup with Parker in the backfield to start, but look for packages that include all three back there.<\/p>\n Interceptions: On the positive side of things, Grammer threw for 17 touchdowns and 2557 yards. On the Negative side of things, he threw 12 interceptions. Seven of those 12 interceptions came on the MTSU side of the field as well. Grammer set up the opposition many times with a short field and gave them a chance late in games.<\/p>\n Points Per Game: MTSU allowed 31.5 points per game (96th). They’ll obviously have to get that number much lower, as they scored 31.6 themselves. That is not a recipe for success. However, the points against can be skewed a bit thanks to Grammer’s interception problems. If he can cut down on the picks, the defense should be put in much better positions.<\/p>\n Middle Tennessee has a chance to seriously compete in C-USA. It’ll\u00a0have to beat Western Kentucky AND Marshall if it\u00a0hopes to have any chance, though. If it\u00a0can do that, things could be crazy in the conference.<\/p>\n [dfads params=’groups=63739&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]<\/p>\n As far as the Blue Raiders’\u00a0non-conference schedule is concerned, they’ll lose to Alabama, but have a chance to beat Big Ten opponent in Illinois and more than likely be favorite against Vandy when they come to visit. Middle Tennessee should be Bowl bound and will be in the thick of the C-USA race.<\/p>\n\n
