Preview<\/strong>:\u00a0 NASCAR drivers might need some Goody’s Headache Powder by the time Sunday’s race on the Martinsville “paperclip” is over.Last season, Matt Kenseth said Martinsville reminds him of “racing around two light poles in a mall parking lot,” adding, “there’s very little room to race, it’s slow and just real tight quarters – there’s nothing fun about that to me.” \u00a0Of course, some drivers might feel differently – like Jimmie Johnson, who’s owned this track in recent years, winning five of the last six Cup outings.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Safe Bets:<\/h3>\n

1. Jimmie Johnson (+350):<\/strong>\u00a0 Though he hasn’t won a race yet this season, it’s hard to bet against the three-time defending Cup champion, who’s been to Victory Lane in four of the past five Martinsville races including both spring and fall dates.\u00a0 The one he didn’t win was this race last year – Denny Hamlin won, but Johnson led 135 laps and finished 4th.<\/p>\n

2. Kyle Busch (+500):\u00a0<\/strong> Busch is off to a red-hot start in 2009, winning two of the last three Cup races and dominating the short track at Bristol last week where he led 75% of the race.\u00a0 Though he didn’t have much luck at Martinsville last year, Busch finished 4th here twice in 2007.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Dark Horse:<\/h3>\n

1. Tony Stewart (+2000):<\/strong>\u00a0 Stewart is 7th in points with his new Cup team and has won twice previously at Martinsville.\u00a0 He won this race in 2006, finished 7th in 2007 and 5th last year.\u00a0 If Stewart keeps his impatience in check, he could have a successful outing Sunday.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Summary:<\/strong>\u00a0 Martinsville is known for its difficult pit road and for being hard on brakes.\u00a0 Drivers will have to baby the brakes and avoid errors and collisions in the pits to make it to the checkers.<\/p>\n
