I get it. The Jets have made a habit of not living up to the hype. But this year could be different and here’s why. Rex Ryan’s act is gone – there will definitely be more accountability with former Cardinals Defensive Coordinator Todd Bowles at the helm. The return of cornerbacks Darrelle Revis and Antonio Cromartie gives the Jets the best secondary in the game, Brandon Marshall’s arrival gives the Jets a legit #1 receiving target that they have been lacking for years.

[dfads params=’groups=63753&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]

Every move that the Jets have made this past offseason has been positive. Of course their success depends on Geno Smith – who knows about him. At least Ryan Fitzpatrick is there in case there is a huge mess to clean up!

New York Giants

Odds to win the 2016 Super Bowl: 28/1
Odds to win the 2015-16 NFC Conference: 16/1
Season Win Total: 8

The Giants could make a run this season – Eli Manning quietly had a good season last year and with Odell Beckham looking like the next superstar in the game, New York could be a force offensively. Victor Cruz may be back and Rueben Randall looks like he could take the next step at receiver as well. The addition of Shane Vereen to the backfield could also benefit the passing game. Simply put – the Giants look like a powerful offense heading into 2015. That leaves the defense as the huge determining factor for New York – I have a little faith at least.

Look – the Giants were 0-4 in games decided by eight or less points, they had an astounding 20 players on IR and they were victimized by fumble-it is. All of those things can be fixed. With the AFC East looking as though it may take a step back (Dallas and Philadelphia), the Giants could be poised to steal this division.

Minnesota Vikings

Odds to win the 2016 Super Bowl: 50/1
Odds to win the 2015-16 NFC Conference: 28/1
Season Win Total: 6.5

A lot of people are pumping the tires of the Vikings right now but their success depends on Adrian Peterson – who knows if he will show up and play. Heck he’ll only lose $12.5 million and a year of his life if he sits out – why not?

[dfads params=’groups=66501&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]

Teddy Bridgewater did enough last year to instill some faith in the Vikings going forward. The addition of Mike Wallace should help believe it or not and the presence of the superb Cordarrelle Patterson and emerging Charles Johnson suddenly gives the Vikes a nice pass catching corp. Of course they will be a whole lot better if AP suits up!

Head Coach Mike Zimmer has also quietly developed a nice defense. Names like CB Xavier Rhodes, DT Sharrif Floyd, S Harrison Smith, LB Anthony Barr and DE Everson Griffen may not jump off the page but they make Minnesota formidable on the defensive side of the ball.

Don’t expect Minnesota to overtake Green Bay for the NFC North crown but on paper they look like a lock to win more than the projected 6.5 games. The Vikes are on an upswing for sure and could be a nice surprise to squeak into the playoffs this year.

Atlanta Falcons

Odds to win the 2016 Super Bowl: 40/1
Odds to win the 2015-16 NFC Conference: 22/1
Season Win Total: 8.5

The Falcons did a good job filling some hole in the draft – Vic Beasley, Jalen Collins, Grady Jarrett and Tevin Coleman have a real chance of starting Week 1- they also did a good job in free agency picking up some defensive studs – Adrian Clayborn, Brooks Reed and Justin Durant will really help out this team. The Falcons also scored a defensive indeed Head Coach – one that will surely improve upon one of the worst defensive corps. in the league.

Matt Ryan is still an elite signal caller, Julio Jones is still one of the best receivers in the game, Roddy White still looks like one of the better second options in the game and draftee RB Tevin Coleman has a chance to be one of the biggest rookie impacts in the league. So what’s not to like?

Atlanta has the honor of playing in the NFC South – a division that should be better this year but is, on paper, the easiest division in the game. With the improvements they made Atlanta could win nine games and win the South.

Seriously!

Buffalo Bills

Odds to win the 2016 Super Bowl: 33/1
Odds to win the 2015-16 AFC Conference: 16/1
Season Win Total: 8.5

Keep in mind that the Bills did win nine games last year and only got better this past offseason. Let’s look at the additions to this team.

[dfads params=’groups=63752&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]

Rex Ryan brings his defensive minded philosophy over from the Jets – the Bills are miles ahead of last year in the coaching department with Ryan at the helm. LeSean McCoy comes over with a major chip on his shoulder (excuse the pun) and Percy Harvin has a ton to prove. Buffalo’s offense got a lot better in the offseason to compliment what has been a terrific defense.

The huge question mark is EJ Manuel himself and let’s be honest – Rex Ryan’s success turning QBs into legit starters leaves something to be desired. But Sammy Watkins looks poised to take the next step and the Bills do have Matt Cassel waiting in the wings in case Manuel fails.

Buffalo has a relatively easy schedule this year, they are hoping the Patriots take a step back due to controversy and they now have a coach that has actually had some success against Belichik and company. The Bills should win 9-10 games – anything less than a Wild Card would be a disappointment.

The 2015 NFL futures betting season is right around the corner!
