Did anyone have a worse offseason than the San Francisco 49ers<\/strong>? Seriously. They lost their coach and hired Jim Tomsula to replace him. Who? Exactly. Frank Gore left as did both starting corners and two of their better players on defense \u2013 linebackers Patrick Willis and Chris Borland retired. <\/p>\n San Francisco 49ers<\/a><\/strong> The good news for San Francisco is that after an ugly 2014 season the schedule will look a little easier. The bad news is that the Niners now have a ton of holes to fill and look on paper like one of the least intimidating teams in the NFC.<\/p>\n [dfads params=’groups=63753&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]<\/p>\n The draft didn\u2019t seem to help this team out either \u2013 it\u2019s going to be a long season 49ers fans.<\/p>\n Here is a look at their full schedule and what could happen this year.<\/p>\n Week 1: Monday, Sept. 14, Minnesota, 10:20 p.m. ET<\/strong><\/p>\n The 49ers open at home against a still underwhelming Vikings squad. This is a good place for Colin Kaepernick and company who start the Jim Tomsula era off in style. It may not be pretty but we can expect San Francisco to be above .500 for the only time this season.<\/p>\n Week 2: Sunday, Sept. 20, at Pittsburgh, 1 p.m. ET<\/strong><\/p>\n The Steelers will be without LeVeon Bell who is suspended and Troy Polamalu and Ike Taylor retired. Still, the Steelers, at home under the guidance of Big Ben are the better, more stable squad in this one.<\/p>\n Week 3: Sunday, Sept. 27, at Arizona, 4:05 p.m. ET<\/strong><\/p>\n Carson Palmer is healthy and the Cardinals look like a threat in the NFL again. Arizona won this matchup at home last year without Palmer so logic says that this is an easy win for the Cardinals.<\/p>\n Week 4: Sunday, Oct. 4, Green Bay, 4:25 p.m. ET<\/strong><\/p>\n A visit to Green Bay is exactly what the Niners don\u2019t need after losing two straight games but that is what they get. Hey \u2013 at least the game isn\u2019t in December! Shockingly the 49ers have beaten the Packers four straight times but that streak ends. San Francisco\u2019s defense isn\u2019t what it used to be \u2013 Aaron Rodgers will have a field day!<\/p>\n Week 5: Sunday, Oct. 11, at New York Giants, 8:30 p.m. ET<\/strong><\/p>\n Another road game \u2013 this time in Prime Time. New York looks as though it could be one of the more improved squads this year.<\/p>\n [dfads params=’groups=66501&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]<\/p>\n Odell Beckham and company should shred the 49ers defense in this one and San Francisco falls to 1-4!<\/p>\n Week 6: Sunday, Oct. 18, Baltimore, 4:25 p.m. ET<\/strong><\/p>\n Jim Harbaugh\u2019s brother John exacts revenge on behalf of his brother in this one. Baltimore is just too strong on both sides of the ball for a team that is already coming apart at the seams by Week 6. It\u2019s ugly in San Francisco and its only October 18!<\/p>\n Week 7: Thursday, Oct. 22, Seattle, 8:25 p.m. ET<\/strong><\/p>\n There is no way the 49ers keep up here. The teams are headed in opposite directions. My bet is that Seattle takes great pleasure in running up the score here and adds to the heap on negativity surrounding this team. A 1-6 start has the 49ers brass longing for Jim Harbaugh.<\/p>\n Week 8: Sunday, Nov. 1, at St. Louis, 1 p.m. ET<\/strong><\/p>\n The one thing we know is that NFC West teams takes care of their own field in divisional games. This is what happens here. San Francisco stays close but loses their seventh straight!<\/p>\n Week 9: Sunday, Nov. 8, Atlanta, 4:05 p.m. ET<\/strong><\/p>\n The Atlanta Falcons come to town in Week 9 \u2013 it is exactly what the doctor ordered. Atlanta is a middling team that takes a hungry San Francisco team lightly. It won\u2019t be pretty but the Niners snap their ugly losing streak here and head into the bye 2-7.<\/p>\n Week 11: Sunday, Nov. 22, at Seattle, 4:25 p.m. ET<\/strong><\/p>\n There is no way the Niners march into Seattle and knock off the two-time defending NFC Champs!<\/p>\n Week 12: Sunday, Nov. 29, Arizona, 4:05 p.m. ET<\/strong><\/p>\n In a smash-mouth game I like the 49ers to squeak one out here. As previously mentioned, I like the NFC West teams to take care of business at home \u2013 this time included. It will be a character win but just San Francisco\u2019s third of the season.<\/p>\n Week 13: Sunday, Dec. 6, at Chicago, 1 p.m. ET<\/strong><\/p>\n San Francisco faces their old defensive coordinator Vic Fangio in a December game at Soldier field \u2013 not exactly a recipe for success for a California team. Fangio has something up his sleeve for this game and it gets out of hand quickly as the Niner one-game win streak comes to an end.<\/p>\n Week 14: Sunday, Dec. 13, at Cleveland, 1 PM<\/strong><\/p>\n The 49ers play their second straight game in cold weather in Week 14 but I think they learn from Week 13 and beat up on a still-underwhelming Browns team that will enter this game with more questions than answers \u2013 AGAIN. San Francisco wins the\u201dDysfunctional Bowl\u201d and improves to 4-9.<\/p>\n Week 15: Sunday, Dec. 20, Cincinnati, 8:30 p.m. ET<\/strong><\/p>\n The Bengals will be in the midst of a playoff race by Week 15 \u2013 there is no way they take the reeling 49ers lightly.<\/p>\n [dfads params=’groups=63752&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]<\/p>\n Cinci will be a good team this year \u2013 the 49ers \u2013 not so much! San Francisco heads into the final two weeks 4-10.<\/p>\n Week 16: Sunday, Dec. 27, at Detroit, 1 p.m. ET<\/strong><\/p>\n Ditto for the Lions \u2013 they will have playoffs on their minds and will bring their best to the Week 16 game. Detroit still has a great defense while San Francisco\u2019s defense isn\u2019t close to what it used to be. Matt Stafford and Megatron dominate here!<\/p>\n Week 17: Sunday, Jan. 6, St. Louis, 4:25 p.m. ET<\/strong><\/p>\n By Week 17 neither team will have a lot to play for. But I like the 49ers to make a statement \u2013 that they aren\u2019t quitters and that they can take care of home field. An unflattering season comes to an end with the 49ers winning the finale.<\/p>\n By my math the 49ers finish the season 5-11 and are in line for a high draft pick in 2016. Coaching changes, a depleted defense and some continuing growing pains for Colin Kaepernick will plague this team \u2013 the 49ers will be as bad as everyone thinks they are. Vegas has San Francisco\u2019s Total set at 8.5 wins \u2013 they easily fall short of that.<\/p>\n It\u2019s back to the drawing board for San Francisco! Who knows what they will do next offseason \u2013 let\u2019s hope that it\u2019s not as tumultuous and that the management group can actually improve the team- not allow it to take some enormous steps back.<\/p>\n\n
