2009 NCAA Men\u2019s Basketball Tournament\u2019s Final Four Predictions<\/h2>\n

As I watched the brackets unfold on Selection Sunday, there were few surprises as the number 1, 2, and, 3 seeds went pretty much to the teams I expected. Some could argue that Memphis should have been a number one seed instead of Connecticut, but to me it is a mute point as the pairings placed them on a collision course in the West final either way.<\/p>\n

When Thursday\u2019s action tips off we will all be cheering for the upsets and looking for the next Cinderella team, but in the end only four will survive the madness. Here are my predictions for this year\u2019s Final Four<\/strong><\/a>:<\/p>\n

East Region Prediction: Villanova<\/h3>\n

Placing them as the 3 seed in the East gives them the advantage of playing their first two games at home. From there they will most likely face Duke who should provide their toughest test to winning the East. In the final they should face Pitt, a team they beat during the regular season.<\/p>\n

South Region Prediction:\u00a0 North Carolina<\/h3>\n

While the health of Ty Lawson could be a factor, they are still the best team in this region and should be able to handle any of the teams they might face. Oklahoma could present some problems, but in the end the Tar Heals are just too strong.<\/p>\n

Midwest Region Prediction: Louisville<\/h3>\n

After winning the Big East regular season title and conference tournament, this team is battle tested and ready to roll. I see Wake Forest as the only real obstacle in their way to a final four appearance, but it will not be enough to stop them.<\/p>\n

West Region Prediction: Memphis<\/h3>\n

Given added motivation after being snubbed as a number 1 seed, this team will continue their winning streak as they march through the West. I have Mississippi State as a Cinderella team, but their ball ends in the West final.<\/p>\n

The action should be fast and furious with some last minute surprises and heartbreak, but remember cream always rises to the top and these four teams are the cream of the crop. Enjoy the madness.<\/p>\n
