Minnesota<\/h3>\n

By some measures it appears the T-Wolves are getting better even if it is not showing up in the win column.<\/p>\n

After a loss yesterday they have just one win in their last eight games and the injury bug has really grabbed hold of this team.<\/p>\n

Not having the services of Anthony Bennett or Kevin Garnett might not matter but matter but PG Ricky Rubio and C Nikola Pekovic are being missed. Neither is the team\u2019s best player, that\u2019s rookie Andrew Wiggins, but they are very hard to replace on the roster.<\/p>\n

In their recent loss to Charlotte the T-Wolves had seven players score in double figures.<\/p>\n

Normally that is code for a harmonious win but with nobody scoring more than 16 points on their own they still lost by 11. Minnesota has the worst defense in the league and needs more than just balanced scoring to combat that.<\/p>\n

The effort level is still there for this group but they are just not very good right now.<\/p>\n

Utah<\/h3>\n

I bet you didn\u2019t know that Utah is giving up the fewest points per game in the NBA…I didn\u2019t, and they have been playing that strength into a 12-4 record since the All-Star break.<\/p>\n

That defense certainly does not make them an elite team but it does mean that you cannot discount them the way you might of earlier in the season.<\/p>\n

At this point it is too late to really challenge for the playoffs but perhaps a future of contending is not as far off as originally thought.<\/p>\n

If the Jazz could come up with some more steady offense the story would be even better but players like Rudy Gobert, although improving, are unlikely to develop to a high level.<\/p>\n

One promising sign is that they seem to have found the right role for Trey Burke. Coming off the bench he can be a spark offensively and a nice asset.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately the extra time that change has given to rookie Dante Exum has not been encouraging.<\/p>\n
