All season long this has been a surprisingly good defensive team.<\/p>\n [dfads params=’groups=63727&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]<\/p>\n Giving more time to center Rudy Gobert gives them even more defensive heft.<\/p>\n The Jazz may be winning lately but they are getting next to nothing from their starting backcourt of Dante Exum and Joe Ingles.<\/p>\n The aforementioned Gobert has been doing his best DeAndre Jordan impression lately pulling down more than 20 boards against Memphis.<\/p>\n Gordon Hayward is still the leading scorer for Utah and he can put points on the board but he is better cast in a sidekick role for me.<\/p>\n The Celtics also played last night, getting crushed by Cleveland on the road.<\/p>\n They have been playing better of late though, covering 4 straight before that including almost beating the league leading Warriors the game before Cleveland.<\/p>\n This is a team in transition and one that is also dealing with injuries to starting frontcourt players Kelly Olynyk and Jared Sullinger.<\/p>\n This team has some promise if their players develop but without those guys the depth is lacking right now.<\/p>\n The biggest beneficiary of the injuries is Brandon Bass, who is generally getting the C\u2019s about 15ppg when starting. It was a surprise that the Celtics brought in Isaiah Thomas but he has been averaging 20ppg since he got to Beantown.<\/p>\n [dfads params=’groups=63741&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]<\/p>\n I think he can be paired with Marcus Smart long term because Smart is a rare PG with some size. He just needs to keep refining his offensive game. There are some seeds.<\/p>\n Surprised that Boston got the nominal nod as the favourite in this one.<\/p>\n\n
