Here\u2019s a look.<\/p>\n The Broncos proved last week that they don\u2019t necessarily need Peyton Manning to be the difference maker in a game \u2013 they beat down the Bills without Peyton throwing for 300 yards or a TD. He went for just 179 yards last week, zero TDs and two interceptions and the Broncos still beat the Bills handily.<\/p>\n It was the running game and the defense that showed up in Week 14 \u2013 yes folk the Broncos are quietly turning into one of, if not the most complete team in the game! CJ Anderson has been remarkable averaging 182 yards rushing in his last three outings, and the defense has given up 40 points combined in the last two games – it has harassed opposing QBs and has forced four total turnovers.<\/p>\n [dfads params=’groups=66501&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]<\/p>\n To expect Peyton Manning to struggle again is unlikely, especially against a Chargers defense that ranks third last in the NFL against the pass. Julius Thomas should be 100% healthy and Demaryius Thomas will definitely better his 22 yard effort in Week 14! You get the sense that a Peyton Manning breakout game is imminent especially since he has two sub-standard games in a row. Against a Chargers team that surrendered 300+ yards to Tom Brady last week, it\u2019s a good bet to happen here.<\/p>\n The San Diego Chargers played OK against the Patriots but still lost \u2013 proving that they are still in the second, maybe third tier of NFL teams. They get a crack at a top tier team for the second week in a row \u2013 a lot will be known about this team Sunday night.<\/p>\n The Chargers defense has been porous against the pass this season \u2013 not a good sign with Peyton and the boys coming to town. They held the Pats in check for the better part of half the game in Week 14 but unraveled in the end. San Diego has been OK versus the run but should be overmatched by CJ Anderson and the suddenly scorching Denver rushing attack.<\/p>\n San Diego will have to hope that they can control the ball, sustain long drives and keep the Denver offense off the field in this one. Easier said than done especially since the running game has gone cold and Philip Rivers was unable to deal with any sort of pass rush that New England threw at them.<\/p>\n [dfads params=’groups=63752&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]<\/p>\n Rivers himself is coming off one of his worst games of the season \u2013 just 189 yards passing versus New England \u2013 he looked completely overwhelmed and has to hope to channel the effort he displayed against Baltimore the week earlier.<\/p>\n \u2022 DEN are 8-2 ATS in their last 10 games in December. The Chargers are 0-4 ATS in their last four home games while the Broncos are 3-0 ATS in their last three games against the Chargers.<\/p>\n I expect those trends to continue in Week 15. To beat the Broncos, teams absolutely have to control the clock – with zero running game in San Diego; the Chargers likely won\u2019t be able to do that!<\/p>\n\n
