This equates to Tulsa posing a stronger challenge to Oklahoma than Louisiana Tech did for the Sooners a week ago.<\/p>\n Tulsa’s goose is still likely cooked.<\/p>\n [dfads params=’groups=63738&limit=1&return_javascript=1′]<\/p>\n The Sooners’ defense shut down Tech for the majority of last week’s game, holding the Bulldogs to 245 total yards and just 54 yards rushing on 29 attempts.<\/p>\n This time, Oklahoma travels across the state to lock horns with a program that chucked passing yards at will in Week 1. Tulsa’s sophomore QB Dane Evans looked great, putting up 438 yards and four TDs against Tulane.<\/p>\n While somewhat soothing to the home side, OU is a top-tier team in the nation and unfortunately, Tulsa is closer in depth and ability level to Louisiana Tech than it is to a Big 12 contender like Texas, Baylor or the visiting Sooners.<\/p>\n Look for Oklahoma QB Trevor Knight to have a big game. Tulsa’s defense surrendered 31 points to a Tulane squad that certainly doesn’t have the weapons that the Sooners can roll out. Knight should use his talented depth to attack the home side in multiple ways.<\/p>\n Sophomore RB Keith Ford had a big game in Week 1, putting up 116 combined rushing\/passing yards and including two rush TDs in the mix. When the Sooners aren’t handing off or throwing to Ford, they also have freshman Samaje Perine, who led the team in rushing last week, as well as talented WR Sam Shepard.<\/p>\n [dfads params=’groups=66501&limit=1&return_javascript=1′]<\/p>\n If that weren’t enough, the Sooners feature a talented, experienced defensive unit that should overwhelm Tulsa’s offensive line. Evans looked great against Tulane last week, but could he repeat a performance like that with hungry OU defenders swarming around him?<\/p>\n I very much doubt it.<\/p>\n Watch LBs P.L. Lindley and Frank Shannon tear around the field making plays and, consequently, things miserable for the home team.<\/p>\n The Golden Hurricane had a satisfying start to the season, but playing in-state rival Oklahoma is a much different beast.<\/p>\n [dfads params=’groups=63739&limit=1&return_javascript=1′]<\/p>\n Tulsa might be able to make some hay aerially against its Top 10 opponent, but it won’t likely translate to overall success. If the Golden Hurricane can keep the score respectable, they should ultimately consider that a win, no matter what the coaches say with the cameras in their face.<\/p>\n\n
