The perennially underachieving unit finally got it all together and came up with a big season. <!--more--> <\/p>\n<p>The problem was, the Bear defense endured a rare down season, and the team now enters 2014 hoping to get everything together at once.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<h3>Over Under Lines<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>2013 Record: 8-8<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Bears Lines ov8.5 (-115)<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Bears Lines un8.5 (-115)<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Chicago [dfads params=&#8217;groups=63740&#038;limit=1&#038;return_javascript=0&#8242;]<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The Bears gave up more yardage and points than we\u2019re used to seeing from them a year ago, and it spoiled an uncharacteristically potent offensive season from them.<\/p>\n<p>The defense loses defensive end Julius Peppers and defensive tackle Henry Melton, but it gets back some help right along that very defensive line with the additions of Jared Allen, Lamarr Houston, and Willie Young.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<h3><a title=\"Sports Picks\" href=\"https:\/\/www.capperspicks.com\/handicappers\/\"><strong>CLICK to GRAB OUR BEST Expert Sports &amp; Football Picks for 2014 GAMBLING!<\/strong><\/a><\/h3>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The defense also gets cornerback Kyle Fuller, a first-round pick who will help solidify things on the back end. The team also used its second and third round picks to help the defense, grabbing a pair of defensive tackles to help cushion the loss of Melton.<\/p>\n<p>There\u2019s little turnover on offense, which is a good thing. The one key loss is backup quarterback Josh McCown, who moves to Tampa Bay where he will be the starter after Coach Trestman offered the veteran a boost in his quarterback-friendly system.<br \/>\n[soliloquy id=&#8221;82219&#8243;]<br \/>\nThe unit returns its quartet of stellar offensive weapons. Quarterback Jay Cutler missed a fair bit of time last season, but he seemed to really take a liking to the new offense, and he could have a big year in store for us this upcoming season.<\/p>\n<p>The team\u2019s offensive skill players all enjoyed big seasons. Brandon Marshall still has some big years left in him, particularly with Alshon Jeffery emerging on the other side. Jeffery was a very pleasant surprise after a disappointing rookie season.<\/p>\n<p>Running back Matt Forte has been hit or miss throughout his career, but Coach Trestman\u2019s system seems to fit him perfectly. He could be in for another strong receiving season in which he catches north of 70 balls.<\/p>\n<h3>Bears NFL Betting Prediction<\/h3>\n<p>The Bears have talent all over the field on both sides of the ball. The offense has a chance to be special with a pair of standout wide receivers and an elite running back. <\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s rare that the team\u2019s defense is a weakness, but that wasn\u2019t the case a year ago. It\u2019s unlikely that will be the case again this season.<\/p>\n<p>The Green Bay Packers of course stand in the way, but it wouldn\u2019t be outrageous if the Bears were to soar past this win total and claimed the division, though it\u2019s more likely they\u2019ll be neck-and-neck with the Packers right down to the end.
