Jets Over \/ Under Season Wins<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Despite intense scrutiny the Jets finished 8-8 and out of the playoffs last season. I know that result was far from comforting to fans but at least it was an improvement from the year before. <\/p>\n

2013 also saw the official end of the Mark Sanchez era in New York as rookie Geno Smith showed that he just might have a future in this league.<\/p>\n

The offense absolutely has to be better if the Jets are going to improve on their 8 wins from a year ago. They averaged only 18ppg despite having a respectable rushing offense, 6th at 135ypg.<\/p>\n

In an effort to create more big plays on offense this season the Jets made two offseason acquisitions. RB Chris Johnson fell off the map in Tennessee but he could be a positive addition in New York while Michael Vick is a bit of a puzzler.<\/p>\n

I have always been a fan of Vick and he can still play but I don\u2019t get the fit after getting a QB last year in the draft. Do they really think he is a missing piece? They did a really ggod job upgrading the weapons for whoever is under center wih the pickup of Eric Decker too.<\/p>\n

His numbers won\u2019t be as good as in Denver but he is a legit #1. On defense this is a stout unit but it needs to make more big plays – they were middle of the pack in sacks and interceptions.

Projected win total: \u00a06<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The Jets should be better on offense but I am sure an extra few points per game is going to mean significant improvement in terms of wins and losses. playing the NFC Central and AFC West only offer up a couple of teams this club should beat so their schedule is just fair and could be really challenging if Buffalo and Miami are much improved.<\/p>\n

If they sweep those teams then they have a chance to really impress.<\/p>\n

Key to Season:<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Quarterback play: \u00a0Obvious right? \u00a0Whether it is Smith or Vick it just has to work, one for the team to succeed and two to take some heat off of the whole operation.<\/p>\n

This is not a great team but it is built for a quarterback to have some succcess instead of being scapegoated every single week.<\/p>\n

If that is happening again it will be because it is deserved and this team can\u2019t handle it.<\/p>\n

With a posted win total of 7 there is not much value on the Jets at the moment. If there was a gun to my head I would go with the Under because a lot of team on their schedule should be improved but it is the time of year when eveything looks rosy.<\/p>\n

The tough part for exceeding this total is that I only see one potential road victory.<\/p>\n
